Natural hone remedies to treat diabetes at home

Diabetes treatment: 15 home remedies to treat diabetes at home (thinkstock photos/getty images)

India is said to be the diabetes capital of the world. With nearly 50 million people in india suffering from diabetes, the country has a big challenge to face. First, let's know what is diabetes. The elevated sugar in the blood is called diabetes. There are two primary reasons behind diabetes - one is when our body stops producing insulin and second is when the body does not respond to insulin that is produced by the body. Insulin is broken down by the body and used as energy, which is transported to the cells. There are two types of diabetes - type I diabetes and type ii diabetes. Let's know about them in a little detail:

Type I diabetes

Type I diabetes usually occurs in people who are below the age 20 and that is why it is also called as juvenile diabetes. In this type, the body becomes partially or completely unable to produce insulin. Type I diabetes is an autoimmune disease. In this, your immune system attacks the pancreas from where the insulin is produced, thereby making the pancreas inefficient or unable to produce insulin. Type I diabetes cannot be prevented, it can only be controlled with healthy lifestyle changes.

Type ii diabetes

Type ii diabetes is more common than type I diabetes in india. Type ii diabetes usually happens to people who are above the age of 40. This type of diabetes is caused due to insulin resistance. In this case, the pancreas produces insulin but the body is not able to respond to it properly. There can be many reasons behind type ii diabetes. Some of the reasons can be being overweight, high blood pressure, having a poor diet, taking too much stress, hormone imbalance, certain medications and leading a sedentary lifestyle. Though type ii diabetes can be reversed.

Let's us know some natural ways by which we can treat diabetes at home:

What not to eat:

There are some foods which can negatively impact your diabetes. So, the first thing you need to do is to remove these foods from your diet.

1. Refined sugar - we all know that sugar, until it is in its most natural form, is bad for people suffering from diabetes. When consumed, refined sugar spikes the blood sugar rapidly. Sometimes even the natural form like honey can cause a sudden spike in the blood sugar levels. So, it's better to avoid refined sugar by all means if you are a diabetic.

2. Whole grains - grains that have gluten in them should be avoided. Gluten is associated with diabetes as its intake can cause leaky gut leading to inflammation which in turn can lead to auto immune diseases.

3. Alcohol - alcohol consumption is directly related to diabetes. Alcohol not only damages your liver but also attacks the pancreas that produces insulin. Diabetes is linked with consumption of heavy alcohol which is two to three glasses a day. Beer should especially be avoided as it has a lot of carbohydrates.

4. Cow's milk - just like whole grains, cow milk can trigger the immune system which can lead to inflammation. Milk coming from sheep and goat is not harmful in fact it helps to maintain the blood sugar level. But the conventional cow milk can be dangerous for you if you are suffering from diabetes.

5. Gmo foods - gmo foods have the capability to promote diabetes along with causing liver and kidney diseases. Go for products which are labeled as gmo-free.

What to eat and do

Cinnamon

Cinnamon contains a bioactive compound that can help to fight and prevent diabetes. Cinnamon is known to stimulate the insulin activity and thus regulate the blood sugar level. As excess of anything is bad, likewise cinnamon if taken in excess can increase the risk of liver damage due to a compound called coumarin present in it. The true cinnamon, not the one buy from shops (cassia cinnamon) is safer to have.

How to consume cinnamon

- mix half or one teaspoon of grounded cinnamon with warm water and have it once daily.

- boil raw cinnamon in 2 glasses of water. Let it cool for 30 minutes and have it daily.

Aloe vera

Aloe vera is easily found in indian households. Though it's bitter in taste, but combing it with buttermilk makes it taste better. Usually, aloe vera is used for beauty purposes but as it has anti-inflammatory properties it can heal the wounds. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties, it is said to control the blood sugar levels.

Jamun

Jamun and its leaves have proven to be helpful in lowering the blood sugar levels. Consuming approximately 100 grams of jamun every day is said to show tremendous improvement in your blood sugar levels.

Vitamin c

Vitamin c is not only good for skin but also for diabetes. Recent studies have shown that consuming approximately 600 mg of vitamin c daily can improve the blood sugar level significantly. People who have chronic diabetes should consume foods rich in vitamin c every day. Some foods rich in vitamin c are amla, orange, tomato and blueberry.

Exercise

One of the main reasons behind type ii diabetes is being overweight. Any kind of physical activity, be it yoga, zumba, aerobics, gymming, playing sports can significantly improve blood sugar level by maintaining your weight. Not only this, walking every day can help to reduce the blood sugar level tremendously.

Dialysis - What To Eat & What To Avoid?

A dialysis diet is a special diet that is customized for patients who are or will be starting dialysis within a short period of time. Such a diet is prepared to reduce the waste and fluid levels that keep on accumulating between the dialysis sessions so that the patient remains healthy for the process to be carried out seamlessly.

What can you eat?
Eat foods which are rich in high-quality proteins (poultry, fish, lean meat and egg whites).

What can’t you eat?
Eat less of foods which are rich in sodium and phosphorus.

Foods high in Sodium
1. Use minimum salt in preparing the dishes; this helps control BP and probable weight gain that might happen between the dialysis sessions.
2. Make use of spices, herbs and other salt-flavored enhancers.

Meat
1. Patients on dialysis need to include more of high-quality protein foods in their diet. This will help regulate blood protein levels. Eat about 10 ounces of foods rich in high-quality protein every day.
2. 1 egg, ¼ cup of ricotta cheese, ¼ cup of tuna.

Salads/Vegetables

  1. The potassium content of vegetables can be alarming for a patient on dialysis. Eat 3 servings of vegetables that are low in potassium every day. These include broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, carrots, garlic, cucumber, eggplant, celery, radishes, etc.
  2. Avoid vegetables such as beets, potatoes (in any form- wafers or wedges), winter squash, cooked spinach, pumpkin, asparagus and avocado.

Note:

  1. Although seeds, nuts, peanut butter, lentils, dried beans and peas are rich in protein, they are generally struck off from the diet plan because of their high phosphorus and potassium content.
  2. You can have moderate amounts of grains, bread and cereals.
  3. Try and not have brown bread and other whole grains as they are loaded with phosphorus.
  4. Usually, 5-10 servings of these are considered sufficient for patients on dialysis.
  5. Also, limit intake of milk and other dairy products.
  6. ½ cup yoghurt or ½ a cup of milk is considered safe. Also, remember that all varieties of milk- skim, whole and low fat, have the same amount of phosphorus.
  7. All fruits contain some amount of potassium. However, some of them contain more potassium than the others. Limit your intake of fruit juices.
  8. Avoid or limit fruits like:
  9. Orange juice and oranges
    • Kiwis
    • Prune juice and prunes
    • Dried fruit and raisins
    • Melons
    • Bananas

Cosmetics Benefit Strong, Powerful and Well-Adjusted Men

Cosmetics Benefit Strong, Powerful and Well-Adjusted Men

They'll benefit for you too and here's why

There is still a misconception that only women use cosmetics. Here's news that won't break your heart or bank balance. Smart, successful and famous men use cosmetics too. They know that it enhances them physically, aesthetically and emotionally. It will be good for you too.

Debunking the myth

Before committing yourself to using essential cosmetic products designed and manufactured specifically with men in mind, you need to rid yourself of the notion that it is unmanly to use cosmetics. Since its earliest introduction, confident men have used cosmetics unashamedly with full knowledge of its inherent value to them.

Why masculine men should be using cosmetics

Active men sweat a lot, burning more calories than the average desk worker or couch potato. And have you ever wondered why famous sportsmen are so handsome? Now you know. The use of cosmetics stretches well beyond just making a man look good. It benefits his skin and improves the skin's ability to discard excess waste tissue.

Health and beauty benefits

Well-known actors use cosmetics not as a form of vanity but as an essential tool of trade. Often overlooked are the health benefits. Rugged men of the past have been guilty of not taking care of their skin, sometimes with unforeseen and even deadly consequences!

Health

Many products are geared towards enhancing the longevity of men's skin. Some products are recommended by registered dermatologists who specialize in healing damaged skin cells that require rejuvenation. Short of dermatological advice, guys can read the product labels of their new cosmetics packs or consult with in-store beauticians or pharmacists on how to use the products correctly.

Oily skin - It is not uncommon for grown men to have severe cases of acne. Many men, however, still have extremely oily skin usually caused by increased physical activity and daily stress. But, for those who do have acne, it is recommended that they use cosmetics which contain a solution of benzoyl peroxide.

• Spots - Soft, skin-friendly cleansers which don't burn and are ideal as after-shave balms, contribute healthily towards reducing or eliminating horrible looking blemishes which are caused for a number of reasons related to improper skin care.

• Sun scares - One essential addition to the cosmetics pack should always be a form of good protection against the sun's UV rays. For this, a good sunscreen with an SPF 20 rating (or higher) is recommended.

Beauty

So guys, what are the most welcome benefits for you? Remember those health benefits. Keeping your skin healthy will also contribute towards a younger-looking you. Looking your best will lead to more opportunities with the ladies. More importantly for some, your personal appearance - clothing and clean-looking skin tones - will rub off well in the boardroom.

Three good choices

Men new to cosmetics can take heart that not much is needed to refresh them in a healthy, glowing way. The bare essentials are all that are needed. As basic, entry level products, men should look out for cleansing products, lotions and gels which contain a combination of healthy, natural ingredients which take care of a number of typically masculine toiletry needs.

• Cleansers - Look out for cleaning products that contain natural ingredients such as cucumber and green tea. An effective gentle moisturizer will contain glycolic acid which originates from sugar cane. For those with oily skin, soap-free solutions that contain salicylic acid are recommended.

• Sun factor lotions - The recommended lotions will greatly reduce the risks of skin cancer while exfoliating the skin. Two key ingredients to look out for in your anti-UV pack are the minerals titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. They act as militant blockers which can absorb the sun's rays.

• Gel - By now, most men know that gel is much better than conventional shaving creams. Look out for gels which contain natural ingredients such as lemon and orange extracts. It works nicely as a cure for razor burn.

Eco-choices for the man of the future

Apart from looking after himself, today's modern man cares more about the environment. Now that he has his own, small range of cleansing cosmetics to work with, he has discarded hundreds of harmful chemicals traditionally found in soaps, deodorants, shampoos and after-shave lotions. He also knows that by contributing towards the sustainability of his local environment, he is recreating a healthier, newer man.

Proving your manhood no longer means denying yourself cosmetics and it takes a real man to acknowledge the importance of looking after himself. Today's 21st century man embraces the use of cosmetics and fully appreciates the many benefits of their daily use.

Halloween Games for a Happy Penis

Sexologist, Delhi
Halloween Games for a Happy Penis

Yes, that time of year is coming when little goblins, scary ghosties and woeful witches will descend upon a man's home in search of treats - and ready to play dreadful tricks if they go away empty-handed. Halloween is a wonderful time to be a kid, but that doesn't mean children get to have all the fun at the end of October. No, adults should be open to adding a little Halloween fun into their sex lives (just as long as the kiddies aren't around)! Using Halloween to make a happy penis even happier should be on every guy's agenda. By exercising just a little caution, it doesn't even have to threaten his penis health - because that's one scare that no dude likes, even at Halloween!

So what are some seasonal games and activities that a couple of consenting adults can get into?

Scary movie, happy penis

Celebrate the ghoulish season by watching a horrifying movie with a partner, but add a few twists to the viewing. For example, scary movies are full of people saying or doing ridiculous things. So every time a male character says or does something stupid - like going into a creepy house alone - the male viewer takes off a piece of clothing; ditto for the female viewer when a woman in the film, say, opens the door when she really shouldn't. The first partner who gets totally naked then gets orally pleasured by the other partner. (The variations on this are endless, so adapt as seems appropriate.)

Mutual body painting

Wearing costumes for Halloween is fun. Painting a costume on a lover is ecstasy. Purchase a supply of body paints, strip down and let those artistic impulses go wild. For more fun, take turns, with one partner painting the other for a few minutes and then the other returning the favor. Be sure to pay extra attention to getting the genitals, buttocks and breasts just right - even if it takes all night. (One word of caution: although body paints should be labelled as safe for use, it's best to avoid getting any inside the vagina - so washing that masterpiece off a guy's penis before penetration is strongly advised.)

Scary role playing

Role playing can be fun at any time of the year, but taking advantage of the outre costume choices available at Halloween can make it even more delightful. This is a perfect time to unleash that howling inner wolfman fantasy, or to let her indulge in evil witchy behavior. And space aliens with realistic tentacles can add something very interesting to sex play.

Dress up the toys

Couples who already employ sex toys in their activities may want to make them more Halloween-appropriate as well. It could be as simple as painting that cock ring orange, adding drops of fake blood to harness straps or letting the dildo or anal plug wear a vampire cape when not in use.

Bring out the treats

Food is a big part of Halloween, so incorporate some into sex play. Dripping a little chocolate sauce on a pair of breasts and lovingly licking it off or offering a generous helping of whipped cream on a generous penis to an eager partner can be fun for all concerned.

The above Halloween suggestions can definitely make for a happy penis - but so can taking steps to keep that penis equally as healthy. For that, it's best to daily apply a first rate penis health crème (health professionals recommend Man1 Man Oil, which is clinically proven mild and safe for skin). For best results, locate a crème that includes both vitamin A and a potent antioxidant. Also known as retinol, vitamin A has anti-bacterial properties which are invaluable in fighting the kind of persistent penis odor that ruins many a relationship. And alpha lipoic acid, a very powerful antioxidant, is great for fighting free radicals which can otherwise lead to unwanted oxidative stress. And that's scarier than anything Halloween has to offer.

What to Eat & Not to Eat When You Have an Ulcer in Stomach!

Many times we forget about the importance of our health in the race to pursue our careers and goals. We take our bodies for granted and keep working them without stopping for a breath. While some may have mastered this art, there are many who may not be able to cope with such a lifestyle and may end up falling ill. The most common problem that most people suffer from is stomach upset, gas, or stomach pain, and all of this may be because of not eating right or having irregular eating habits.

It is due to such problems that people fall ill and then go to the doctor with a problem that may take much longer to treat. However, if the patient starts to check in with the doctor before the stomach pain worsens, it may be easier to treat because very often the pain arises from stomach ulcers. Ulcers are sores that are caused on the lining of the stomach or the oesophagus or even on the intestines. In serious cases, the sores may cause great damage to the stomach and may lead to much worse issues. However, with the right intake of food, the damage may be controlled in combination with medicines and treatment from experts.

Foods to avoid
In controlling the spread of stomach ulcers or peptic ulcers, it may be important to know the food that should be avoided so that the medicines and treatments taken for controlling the problem may work better. Here is a list of foods that you should avoid:

  1. Hot beverages such as tea, coffee, cocoa and milk should be avoided because they cause acid imbalance in the stomach.
  2. Anything that may contain caffeine should also be avoided.
  3. Alcohol should be completely avoided by those suffering from peptic ulcers.
  4. Citric or sour drinks such as grape or orange drinks should also be avoided for remaining at ease.
  5. Any spicy powders or seasonings, such as pepper, chilli powder and garlic should be excluded from the diet.
  6. Anything that is made from milk or cream and is extremely fatty in nature should not be consumed.
  7. Flavoured cheese that is strong and spicy should not be eaten.
  8. Meats that include high levels of fat or those that are highly seasoned should be completely avoided.
  9. Chillies or peppers in any form should be kept away from your diet.
  10. Anything that is made from tomato should also be avoided, such gravy, sauces or raw tomatoes.

When you start to keep your diet clean and healthy, it may be much easier for your doctor to cure you of stomach ulcers.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
