The damage to the blood vessels of retina due to diabetes results in vision problem. This is known as Diabetic retinopathy or diabetic eye disease. Initially there are no such symptoms observed. Later it can be identified by a blurred, fluctuating and impaired vision. A person suffering from diabetes for a long time has greater chances of having diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy can result in a mild vision problem which can lead to complete blindness at times.
HOW IS DIABETIC RETINOPATHY DIAGNOSED?
A person with Down's syndrome almost never suffers from Diabetic Retinopathy.
