Although constipation is one of the problems in low and untreated thyroid. There can be many reasons. Requires multi pronged and long standing appraoch. Plenty of liquid consumption, regular exercise like walking, proper diet containing adequate roughage or fibre like green leafy vegetables, seasonal fruits are necessary. As a support intermittent and necessary bulk forming medicine like isabgul (naturolax) or lubricating liquid like cremaffin etc is helpful. You should be cured over a period one day. Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. You have only mentioned about levothyroxine dosage, buut nothing about tsh levels. It is important to control tsh around 3 to 4 mu/l, to remain free from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. Constipation is one its symptoms. So first check tsh level and come back. As regards taking tablets to help proper clearance, one can take as long as required. But too frequent usage is not good. Increasing the intake of fiber containing foods, drinking enough water following good bowel habits, increasing intake of fruits are few of the things which can help. Thanks.
