It comes from a bushy tree that has evergreen leaves and fruits, and has a long brown, hard shell on the outside. Inside this shell lies the fruit itself which is quite sticky and sweet. The pulp of this fruit is quite juicy. Since it’s flavor is a mixture of sweetness and sourness, you either end up hating it or loving it immediately. Tamarinds can be eaten completely raw. Ripened tamarinds can be used in desserts and the fruit can also be dried up in the sun and ground into a delicious spice that you can sprinkle into your food while cooking.

In a 100 g of tamarind, you will find 239 calories. It has a total carbohydrate content for 62.5 g, out of which there is 57.4 g of sugar and 5.1 g of dietary fiber. It might be due to ankle pain. Our suggestion would be to do hot water fermentation along with Cold (ice) therapy. You shall also keep a pillow under the knee while sleeping, next is you can keep ice in the painful area for about 5--10 minutes. If your pain is more in the distal joints, ie. You can definitely control this by adding more ginger in the diet and also you can add honey in the diet which will help you to feel better and free from pain. In dishes and in your regular food use lemon or mango instead of tamarind which has high risk for uric acid. Multiple Joint Pains / Early morning pain.

You can try syr. Homcocide 2 table spoon 3 times a day for 3 days. Along this avoid spicy food, fried food, chilly, tamarind for few days. It may help you. According to ayurveda symptoms you have are due to poor and in complete digestion. For this you should eat timely, avoid excess and continuous eating. Need to change your food habits if problem persist from long time. Else consult ayurvedic doctor.

Since I am a physiotherapist I cannot suggest medicine but I suggest you to hotwater fermentations that would help you to get relieved from joint pains. I also suggest you to go for good ayurvedic body massage which would help you to get releived from joint pain and also swimming activity is advisable. But food precautions, it is better to avoid tamarind in the food rather to add Lime or Mango.

I have pigments and itching on body what's the cause and remedies and what precautions to be taken (especially on back and chest but on lower legs also get severe itching pl advise.

Hi Lybrate User Your problem is due to vitiation of Pitt dosha according to Ayurved. You have to avoid oily spicy fried salty acidic foods. Avoid curd, pickles, tamarind etc. Take fresh Awala juice after taking breakfast with lukewarm water. Take light easily digestable nutrional foods. Use syp Patoladi Kashyam 20 ml two times a day before taking meal. Use Makatiktakam Ghrutam 10 ml with milk two times a day. These things and medicine will cure your problem. Tc Thank Regards.

Food Precautions And Routine For Piles Patients
  1. Stop using any tea/coffee completely. No out side hot/cold Beverages.
  2. Do not use sour taste items (Tamarind, Lemons, Pickles, Tomatoes, Curds, oranges, citrus, Vinegar etc.) in your food.
  3. Non-Vegetarian food even eggs are completely restricted.
  4. No Chilies in any form (Red, green, Chili powder and raw) and spicy food.
  5. No deep-fried and oily food best preffred is boiled food.
  6. No Heavy pulses i.e. Black Grams (Urd), Kidney Grams (Rajmaha), Lobia Etc.
  7. Drinking is strictely prohibited in any case, smoking and chewing of any tobacco items have to be avoided.
  8. No heavy exercises i.e. weight lifting, but a complete bed rest is not required.
  9. Avoid long journey, sitting/drivingriding for long hours, after every 1 hour session please have a 10 minutes walk and no late night working or awakening.

What to use: (Compulsory)

  1. Drink lots of water (4-5) liters in a day)
  2. Drink radish juice 50-100 ml thrice in a day. (mandatory). Eat radishes and carrots compulsory in your food or as salad.
  3. Use light and liquid food as Moong Dal (Green Grams) , Arahar dal(Yellow dal) , rice etc.
  4. Suggested Food routine:
    Breakfast: Have Daliya/Saviyan/Fruit salad/Upma/Poha /Idli etc.
    Lunch: Semi solid mixutre (khichddi) of Rice and Moong (Green Grams)in lunch.
    Dinner: Green Grams/Vegetables and rice/roti with a half spoon home made butter added to vegetable in dinner. All the preparation shall be with out spices, chilies and oil. Preferred to have boiled food.
  5. Take one spoon of Triphala powder or any other digestive enhancer with warm water or as per the prescriptions before going to sleep.
  6. Eat fiber rich fruits and vegetables i.e. Papaya, Fig,Watermelon, Pomegranate, Guava, etc.

अपने खट्टे-मीठे और चटक स्वाद से लोगों के दांत खट्टे करती है इमली. अपने स्वाद से तो सबको लुभाती ही है इसके गुणों पर भी कई लोग लट्टू हैं. लेकिन स्वाद और स्वास्थ्य से भरपूर इमली में सिर्फ लाभदायक गुण ही नहीं होते हैं. इसके कुछ गुण हानिकार भी होते हैं. तो आईए इसके हानि और लाभ को जानें-

1. ह्रदय को रखे स्वस्थ
इमली में पाए जाने वाले तीनों प्रमुख तत्व पोटैशियम, फाइबर और एंटीऑक्सीडेंट दिल को स्वस्थ रखने में मदद करते हैं. पोटैशियम रक्तचाप को नियंत्रित करता है. फाइबर कोलेस्ट्राल को नियंत्रित करता है. जबकि इमली के में पाया जाने वाला एंटीऑक्‍सीडेंट फ्री रेडिकल्‍स को चैक में रखने में मदद करते हैं.

इमली के नुकसान
1. रक्तस्त्राव का जोखिम: यदि आप इमली का सेवन करते समय कुछ सावधानी न बरतें तो इससे रक्तस्त्राव का जोखिम उत्पन्न हो सकता है. आपको एस्पिरिन, इब्यूप्रोफेन, नेपोरेक्सन आदि दवाओं के सेवन के बाद इमली कभी नहीं खानी चाहिए.
2. गर्भवती महिलाओं को: स्वाद में खट्टी लगने वाली इमली विटामिन सी की एक अच्छी स्त्रोत है. यहाँ गौर करने वाली बात ये है कि विटामिन सी के अधिक सेवन से एस्ट्रोजन का स्तर बढ़ जाता है और उच्च एस्ट्रोजन गर्भाशय में संकुचन और ब्लीडिंग पैदा कर सकता है. इसलिए गर्भवती महिलाओं को गर्भपात से बचाने के लिए विटामिन सी युक्त फल जैसे कि इमली न दें.
3. एलर्जी: कई ऐसे लोग हैं जिन्हें इमली ज्यादा मात्रा में खाने से एलर्जी की समस्या हो जाती है. इसलिए इसके दुष्प्रभाव जैसे कि खुजली, सुजन, चक्कर, बेहोशी, उल्टी, सांस की परेशानी आदि से बचने के लिए ज्यादा इमली न खाएं.

इमली के पत्तों के कई औषधीय गुण होते हैं. इमली का पेड़ बहुत विशाल होता है. इसके जड़, तना, छाल, पत्तियों, फल और फुल सबका औषधीय महत्व है. इमली के फल को हमारे यहाँ खाद्य पदार्थों में खट्टापन लाने के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है. तो आइए देखते हैं कि इमली के पत्तों के कितने फायदे हैं.

1. अल्सर के उपचार में
इमली के पत्ते का उपयोग अल्सर जैसे बीमारियों से लड़ने में भी कर सकते हैं. जाहिर है अल्सर में कई बार असहनीय दर्द होता है. इसके उपचार में इमली के पत्ते महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं.
2. स्कर्वी के उपचार में
नाविकों के रोग से मशहूर स्कर्वी नामक रोग विटामिन सी की कमी से होता है. इसके लक्षणों में मसूड़ों और नाखूनों से खून निकलना और थकान प्रमुख है. इमली के पत्ते उच्च एस्कार्बिक एसिड से भरपूर होते हैं. जो कि एंटी स्कर्वी के रूप में काम करता है.
3. उच्च रक्तचाप के उपचार में
इमली के पत्ते आपको उच्च रक्तचाप में भी मदद करते हैं. आज बदली हुई जीवनशैली के कारण उच्च रक्तचाप की समस्या बेहद आम हो गई है.
4. शुगर को नियंत्रित करने में

7. एंटीऑक्सीडेंट के रूप में
एंटीऑक्सीडेंट का महत्व हमारे शरीर में बहुत ज्यादा है. एंटीऑक्सीडेंट फ्री रेडिकल्स से छुटकारा दिलाते हैं. जाहिर है फ्री रेडिकल्स त्वचा कैंसर और कई अन्य समस्याएं उत्पन्न करते हैं. इमली के पत्ते एंटीऑक्सीडेंट से भरपूर होते हैं जिससे कि ये इसमें काफी मददगार होते हैं.

10. पीरियड्स और स्तनपान में
पीरियड्स के दौरान ऐंठन, पेट दर्द आदि समस्याओं से निपटने के लिए इमली के पत्तियों और छाल के अर्क का उपयोग करते हैं. ऐसा इमली के पत्तों का एनाल्जेसिक होने के कारण होता है. स्तनपान के दौरान इमली के पत्तियों का प्रयोग करने से माताओं के दूध की गुणवत्ता में काफी सुधार आता है.

इमली की पत्तियां एंटीसेप्टिक गुणों से युक्त होती हैं. इसलिए इमली के पत्तियों का रस जब घावों पर लगाते हैं तो इससे घाव तेजी से ठीक होता है. इसका रस अन्य संक्रमण और परिजिवी का विकास रोकने के साथ-साथ नई कोशिकाओं का निर्माण भी तेजी से करता है.
