In some cases, its strong scent can also work as a deodorizer to mask foul odors. Wintergreen oil is still used medicinally today, but take note: it is NOT advisable to use the pure (concentrated) essential oil, as it can be very toxic. When applied directly to the skin, wintergreen oil can cause skin irritation. Therefore, it should always be used with a carrier oil. Pregnant and breast-feeding women should not use wintergreen oil. Wintergreen might cause an allergic reaction in people who are allergic to aspirin or other salicylate compounds, or have asthma or nasal polyps.

Cultivation of Wintergreen Oil

Wintergreen is native to North America, mainly in the Northeastern United States and Canada. This low-growing shrub thrives best in rich, organic soils in shady areas. Lower Back Pain - Know Its Treatment and Care!

Back pain is a common source of pain, which can be acute, subacute or chronic in nature. Back pain is classified along the segments of the spine and can be divided into neck pain, middle back pain, lower-back pain or tailbone pain.

Lower back pain is a type of back pain, which affects the lower back portion of the body. It may occur from arthritis or due to sudden jerking during movement. Lower-back pain may cause serious discomfort and aching and may disable a person from moving about. It should be treated and cared for properly.

Here are several treatments and care procedures for lower-back pain.

  1. Take some rest: Most people who get lower-back pain get obsessed with it and end up getting MRI scans, x-rays done and take injections without recognizing the intensity of the pain. It is advised not to rush into the matter. A simple way to cure the pain is by resting. 90% of lower back pains resolve by themselves in 6 weeks and so you must give your back a break instead of taking medical action and give your back some to heal.
  2. Pills: Sometimes, a lower back pain can suddenly become severe. In this case, you should intake anti-inflammatory pills such as ibuprofen or naproxen. These pills will help you ease the pain. However, you should not take them for more than ten days at a stretch as continuous pill consumption can cause side effects.
  3. Hot & cold compress: Apply a bag of frozen peas or an ice pack to the affected area in your lower back for 48 hours after the pain appears. Every session should be about of 20 minutes and you should take several sessions each day. After two days, repeat the same procedure using a heat pad. The cooling procedure shuts down your blood capillaries, reducing the flow of blood to the affected area. The swelling is then eased. The heating, on the other hand, loosens tight muscles and helps to increase blood circulation.
  4. Replace your mattress: People who sleep on firm mattresses and cushions on their beds are at a higher risk of experiencing lower-back pain. If you sleep on a medium-firm mattress, your chances of getting lower-back pain are less. In case your mattress is sagging or is very old, you should replace it.

Lower-back pain is likely to cause great discomfort and trouble. You will be unable to carry out your daily chores because of the pain. Therefore, proper treatment and care are required for lower-back pain. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hi!

So in this video I will be speaking about post-surgical pain management. Welcome to another set of educational video. So what is post-surgical pain? It is any kind of pain happens after surgery. Usually it is limited to few hours after surgery or may be a few days. But problem occurs when it continues for more than 2 months when it is known as chronic post-surgical pain or CPSP. So now what to do with this pain? Don’t worry because we international spinal pain are here to help you. So what we actually do is we take care of the patients who are suffering from chronic post-surgical pain. So how common is this chronic post-surgical pain? It is very common. In around the one study found that in around 20-30% of the patients this pain persist beyond 2 months. Yes in such a large number of patients they have this kind of pain. So what is the possible cause? There are many possible causes many theories and there are some which can be minimize some which cannot be minimize e.g. no matter what you do in patients who have undergone thoracotomy i.e. their thoracic cage or their chest has been cut the incidence is very high it is as high as 40-50%. Then almost every 5 patients out of 10 will have this kind of pain. So what can we do to manage this kind of pain and what can we do to prevent this kind of pain? Apparently there are many things which we can do and to manage these kind of pain you have to consult if it occurs you need to consult spinal pain specialist who can help you with this kind of pain. To prevent it you need to talk to your anesthesiologist and your surgeon. So that they can help you and take the best precautions so that they can prevent this kind of pain. So now what happens if you already develop this kind of pain? So when you go to spinal pain specialist so what he does actually is examine the possible cause of this kind of pain. Obviously you have already gone to your surgeon and there is no surgical cause which can be found which is a very definition of this pain because it is non-surgical cause related pain. So the pain is still persisted but the disease has healed the wounds have healed but the patient is still having pain or you still have having pain. So in these cases often there is something which is known as neuropathic pain which has sat in that means your body is everything is perfectly fine but the nervous system either the nerves which carries pain sensations or the brain which perceives this brain sensation has a problem. So now what to do with this type of problem? First we need to identify what is the possible problem and then we need to treat this cause. If the nerves are the causative factor then there are various techniques like radio frequency modulation, stimulation or the dorsal root ganglion stimulation. We can use various techniques to help you and to help these nerves carry proper sensations. Okay! Or the second possible cause is if your brain is responsible in that case we have many drugs which are available which act on the brain and reduce or eliminate these kind of sensations. So if you have undergone any type of surgery and 2 months have passed and your doctor says that you still have pain but there is no disease you have cure out of your disease and you are feeling that you are still have pain so don’t ignore it and don’t get distress don’t get you can say depress. Just visit spinal pain specialist or and evasion pain physician and I’m sure your pain will be sorted.

4 Natural Ways To Treat Tummy Aches In Children!

4 Natural Ways To Treat Tummy Aches In Children!

Stomach aches or abdominal pains are one of the most frequently reported health complaints faced by children. Children below the age of twelve are known to suffer from recurrent stomach pain. While pains such as these lead to momentary discomfiture, they also lay the path for graver worries if neglected for too long. Your child may feel sick and bunk school for two days; rest and home care can restore his or her health, but that in no way, is the best suited way of dealing with the situation. If tummy aches resurface over a certain period of time, parents should be cautious enough to look for the root cause and should try to eliminate it accordingly.

Widely noticed causes of stomach aches in children:

  1. Unhygienic food can affect the child’s digestive system.
  2. Intolerance to a certain food item should not be overlooked.
  3. Perpetual anxiety can make the tummy twist and turn.
  4. Urinary Tract Infections can also lead to acute abdominal pain.
  5. Serious factors such as gallstones or appendicitis could also be present. Immediate expert consultation is advised in such a case.
  6. Caffeine and packaged soft drinks can be harmful.
  7. Butter, ghee and other greasy products can trigger tummy aches.

Ways to treat tummy aches in children:

  1. Keep children away from gas producing food items: Food that is hard to digest should be avoided. Lentil soup or dal should only be consumed in limited amounts to prevent the formation of gas. Don’t let your child have too many nuts regularly.
  2. Keep them hydrated: Fluid intake should be monitored. A child should drink at least six to seven glasses of water per day. Fruit juices or soups can also be given to them alongside main meals. This helps digestion.
  3. Do not stack up food in one go: Eating a lot in one meal is a bad way of satisfying hunger. Have smaller meals in more numbers. Six to eight meals will keep your child full and will also eliminate chances of acid reflux which happens either due to an empty stomach or too much piling up of greasy food.
  4. Timely check - up with the doctor: If tummy aches refuse to go away, take your child to a doctor for a thorough check- up. Administer medicines as prescribed by the physician. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Multiple Joint Pain - Know Its Treatment Options!

Pain in two or more joints in the body is known as multiple joint pain. Pain may occur either when a joint moves or when it is at rest. Sometimes, the pain might stem from the muscles, ligaments, or tendons. Examples of such conditions include tendinitis and bursitis.

Arthritis may be associated with the pelvis or spine joints. Different disorders affect different joints and the causes and treatment options vary accordingly. There are some disorders which affect the same joint on both the sides of the body, such as both hands and the knees. In certain disorders, the pain resulting from arthritis keeps on moving from one joint to another (migratory arthritis).

Causes:

  1. Most of the time, the root cause is arthritis. However, the reasons which cause arthritis are different from each other, in the way:

    • The types of joints involved.

    • The number of joints involved.

    • Whether the central area of the skeleton is involved or not.

    • Whether it is chronic arthritis (longstanding) or acute arthritis (sudden).

  2. Acute arthritis which affects multiple joints can be due to:

  3. Chronic arthritis causing pain in multiple joints is most commonly due to:

The most common joint disorders are:

  1. Fibromyalgia (widespread tenderness and pain in the muscles)

  2. Bursitis (inflammation of the joint cushions) or tendinitis (inflammation of the tissues which connect the bone to the muscle)

  3. Polymyalgia rheumatica (stiffness and muscle pain, primarily in the shoulders)

Warning Signs Include:

  1. Swelling and redness of the joints.

  2. Fever, chills or sweat.

  3. Chest pain or severe cough.

  4. Abdominal pain.

Treatment Methods:

  1. Drugs and medications are needed to treat autoimmune disorders. The autoimmune response of the immune system is suppressed with the help of these drugs. These medications include immunosuppressive medications, pain relievers and anti-inflammatory medicines.

  2. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) help in reducing inflammation.

  3. A sling or splint bag immobilizes the joint, which relieves the pain.

  4. The application of heat with a heating pad will lessen the pain to a great extent.

  5. Cold application with ice cubes wrapped in a cloth will provide relief.
