Rheumatoid arthritis is autoimmue degenerative disease. In Modern medicine disease modifying agents are used to treat it with varying results. For this specialized form of treatment you have to consult a Rheumatologist. Management of hypothyroid is easy with thyroid hormone supplements and monitored by estimation of TSH intermittently.

Lybrate-user ji, Thanks for the query. Both rheumatoid arthrits and hypothyroidism need continuous treatment. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease, some times with treatment there may be a remission (no symptoms for a few weks to months), but invariably it continues to progress. There can be more severe symptoms as the condition progresses. As regards hypothyroidism it ia a hormone (Thyroxine) deficiency disease. As thyroxine is an essential hormone needed for multiple metabolic functions every day, it has to be supplemented every day for lifetime. Thanks.
