My ldl cholesterol is always borderline high between 120 to 130. I have a family history of heart disease. Can I take medication to control my ldl cholesterol and bring it below 80? I'm very active and a runner as well. My hdl is always between 35 to 40. Though my total cholesterol stays below 200, i'm worried about bringing down my ldl cholesterol below 100. Can I take medication? I also take aten 50 for borderline hypertension which is in control. I have hypothyroidism for the last 15 years and take eltroxin 150 mg daily.
