Hyperlipidemia is the high level of fat in blood. Gradually with time it can result in the clogging up of blood vessels increasing the risk of heart diseases and strokes. Smoking, lack of exercise and hypertension can all lead to this condition. Mutation in gene may also lead to this condition. The buildup of excess fat damages the arteries and internal organs. The condition is characterized by symptoms like fatty deposits in eyelids, tendon xanthomata(hard nodules in tendons of knuckles and Achilles).
