I am 27 years n weighs 78 kgs. I am suffering from thyroid since 1 n half years after my first cesarian. I am 2 months pregnant. Recently I hav perform a thyroid test and the report was normal. I wanted to know whether my thyroid affect my pregnancy? I am very much worried. I am having thyrox 75 mg for thyroid. N gestofit 100 mg n docosa fm for pregnancy. Actually it quite risk, but your pregnancy or baby will be okey, but it will little sensitive. You must keep under proper medical care. If you are careless there may be more chances of affect on baby or you , so medical observations must be done every 4weeks first half of pregnancy. Routine check up for thyroid level. Also once a lady gets pregnant then keeping TSH within the specified limit as required for each trimester is very vital for fetal growth, health and for desired outcome of pregnancy. In your query there is no mention of current TSH levels. Following are the recommended TSH levels : First Trimester : 0.1 to 2.5 mU/L, Second Trimester : 0.2 to 3.0 mU/L & Third Trimester :0.3 to 3.0 mU/L Plus you will have to check TSH every 4th week throughout the gestational period. Usually with the onset of pregnancy Levothyroxine dosage has to be increased. Since there is no mention of current TSH levels, there is no way to comment further. Normal level of thyroid hormone is desirable for pregnancy, its maintenance and proper development of fetus. You have not mentioned your tsh level.in first trimester it should be kept around 2 and in second and third trimester it should be kept around 3.it should be tested every month. You should be under supervision of a physician/endocrinologist throughout pregnancy and thereafter.
