Hi, My 4 years daughter is suffering from fever and stomach pain followed by vomiting from Thursday. Dr. Told fever is due to cold. She has cold and cough. Stomach pain and vomit is due to gas. He prescribe sumol ds, sporidex ds, levolin, and lanzol. She took this medicine from Thursday but no improvement. Is anything serious? Please suggest something.

Dear Ms. lybrate-user Gut /stomach flu is a typical seasonal infection common in toddlers or young children, Abdominal pain cramps nausea and fever with or without diarhhoea are usual symptoms accompanied, vomiting & diarhoea usual recovers ina day or 2 so is the pain, if they all persists beyond 2 days you require to re evaluate the case with your doctor, however following may help you 1-If child appears ill from face, sleepy and inactive 2-mostly pain in stomach or tummy ache causes child to double up, pains are more or so around belly button, if pain happens to other areas such as deeper down to right side etc you require to check with doctor asap 3- if loose motion is blood tinged you require to show to doctor 4- prolonged vomiting may cause dehydration, any signs such as dry mouth or creasy skin may require you to rehydrate her and show to doctor asap 5- burning in urine or child avoiding to pass urine or any pain during may be the sign of UTI and require to seek doctors help As such fever below 100F, Bearable pain abdomen or mild vomiting or less freq, If child is eating well and active you need not to worry, she may recover soon, presence of any of the above will require you to be vigil and seek help of doctor immediately.
