About Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup

As a penicillin antibiotic, Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup treats bacterial infections. It interferes with the synthesis of cell wall in a bacteria and stops it from growing. It is used to treat infections of the lungs and airways, skin, middle ear, sinuses, and the urinary tract. It also treats conditions like tonsillitis, pneumonia, bronchitis and gonorrhoea. Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup when used with an antibiotic clarithromycin, it treats stomach ulcers.

You should not use amoxicillin if you are allergic to any penicillin based antibiotic. Amoxicillin can make birth control pills less effective so ask your doctor about using non hormonal birth control to prevent pregnancy during the treatment. Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby as it may cause harm to the baby. To make sure amoxicillin is safe for you, inform your doctor if you have asthma, liver or kidney disease, mononucleosis, a history of diarrhoea caused by taking antibiotics; or food or drug allergies.

Other drugs may interact with amoxicillin, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Tell each of your health care providers about all medicines you use now and any medicine you start or stop using.

Common side effects may include stomach pain, vomiting, nausea, diarrhoea, headache, vaginal itching or discharge or swollen or black tongue. Call your doctor at once if you have the following after using this medicine:

Take Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup exactly as prescribed by your doctor. They are available in liquid form, as chewable tablets and as extended-release tablets. Some forms of this medicine may be taken with or without food. Dosage is as per doctor’s prescription and it varies according to age, medical condition and how severe the condition is.

    • Ear Infection (Otitis Media)

      Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup treats infections in the middle ear caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

    • Nose Bleed

      This syrup infections in the nose and nasal chamber caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

    • Throat Infection

      Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup treats infections in the throat and airways leading to lungs namely Tonsillitis and Pharyngitis caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

    • Lower Respiratory Tract Infection

      Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup helps in treating infections in the airways leading to the lungs. The infection can be Pneumonia, acute bronchitis or others caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

    • Skin Infection

      It cures infections of skin and skin structure caused by Streptococci and Staphylococci strains of bacteria.

    • Urinary Tract Infection

      Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup helps in treating infections of urinary tube, bladder (Cystitis) and kidneys (Pyelonephritis).

    • Gonorrhea And Associated Infections

      This syrup help in treating Gonorrhea and associated infections in the urinary tube and the region around the reproductive organs in both male and female.

    • Typhoid Fever

      Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup treats typhoid and paratyphoid fever.

    • Stomach Ulcers

      Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup helps in treating stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori. It is normally used in combination with other medicines.

    • Dental Abscess

      It treats infection of gums that result in formation of pus around the roots of the tooth.

    • Endocarditis

      Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup is used in the prevention of a condition where the inner walls of the heart gets swollen.

    • Allergy

      Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup is not recommended if a patient is highly allergic to amoxicillin or other antibiotics of Penicillins and Cephalosporins groups.

        Alcohol

        Interaction with alcohol is unknown. It is advisable to consult your doctor before consumption.

        Urine Sugar Test

        Usage of Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup should be reported prior to performing the test. The urine sugar test should be performed with different reagents in such cases.
      • Interaction with Medicine

        Doxycycline

        Usage of Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup with Doxycycline should be avoided and usage of other antibiotics should be reported to the doctor.

        Methotrexate

        Usage of Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup with Methotrexate or other chemotherapy medicines should be reported to the doctor. The levels of Methotrexate in the body along with symptoms of toxicity should be closely monitored while both these medicines are taken.

        Warfarin

        Usage of Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup with Warfarin should be reported to the doctor. The clotting time should be monitored promptly. Symptoms like increased bleeding, swelling, dizziness and weakness should be reported immediately.

        Ethinyl Estradiol

        Usage of Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup with Ethinyl Estradiol decreases the effectiveness of oral contraceptive pills, which might result in unplanned pregnancies.

        Mononucleosis

        The condition should be reported to the doctor before taking Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup so that proper substitute can be prescribed.

        Colitis

        Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup should be discontinued if severe diarrhea occurs. Patients having a history of Colitis should be monitored closely.

        Renal Diseases

        Lactaclav Forte Dry Syrup should be given after making adjustments in the dosage. The kidney function should be periodically monitored especially if the dosage is for a longer period of time. Suitable dose adjustments are to be made if a patient is on hemodialysis.
