New Year Resolutions - Stop Procrastinating, Take A Pledge To Action!

New Year Resolutions - Stop Procrastinating, Take A Pledge To Action!

Procrastination affects all of us at some point of time in our lives. For most of us, that time comes as soon as the New Year begins. We make a resolution at the end of almost every year to introduce a healthy change or leave a bad habit. However, our commitment to stick to our resolution starts falling flat as we come out of the festive mood and get caught in the hustle and bustle of life. Most of us decide to bring the change to our lifestyles from the coming Monday of the new year. However, for most of us, that Monday never comes. We keep postponing our plan of action to the next Monday and the next month. By the time we realize that we really need to stick to our plan, the year already comes to an end.

Procrastination can make us miss on some of the most amazing things that we can do in life and the things that we really enjoy doing. However, we can make a resolution to overcome our procrastination this year as 2017 ends with one good reason - this time, the beginning of the new year 2018 falls on the new week, the new day i.e. Monday. This very reason is a good enough for all of us to stick to our resolutions from the first day itself and not to delay it until the end of 2018 or until any other Monday.

As you prepare your plans for the New Year’s Eve, start thinking about your resolution for the year 2018 and your plans to follow from the very first day. The following are some of the healthy resolutions that each one of us needs to make right away:

Resolution #1: I won’t eat out for more than one day in a month

Eating home-made meals is absolutely essential to maintain a good health. Processed food and meals ordered from restaurants often lack nutrition and they contain higher amounts of sugar, salt, and refined flour. Half of our concerns related to health will fade away when we start eating right and at the right time.

Resolution #2: I will engage in one physical activity at least once a day

People, especially working professionals, are often too busy to hit the gym and go for a walk. The only physical activity they carry out is to commute to their offices and that too using a transportation system. They spend hours sitting in front of the computer and getting burdened with immense stress. This takes a severe toll on the physical health.

Such people can make a resolution to engage themselves in at least one physical activity every day. Be it walking to a nearby shop to purchase grocery, washing their car, doing the dishes standing, cooking meals at home or mopping the floor.

Resolution #3: I will eat at least one fruit every day

Fruits are absolutely wonderful when it comes to intake of micronutrients and other important vitamins and minerals. Colored fruits such as berries, grapes, and oranges are a rich source of antioxidants that prevent the accumulation of free radicals that cause oxidative damage.

Resolution #4: I will sleep on time or for at least 7 hours every night

Make a commitment to sleep for at least 7, if not 8, hours a day. Sound sleep is absolutely essential to maintain proper mental health and keep the functioning of the hormonal system in the body optimum. It also helps keep a number of health conditions at bay. Sleeping at the same time every day is also essential.

Resolution #5: I will not use any gadget at least an hour before hitting the bed

The light emitted from gadgets such as smartphones and tablets can disrupt sleep and keep you awake at night for a longer duration. Therefore, it is best not to use them at least an hour before you plan to sleep.

So make your list of resolutions and dream up for the New Year. Procrastinating is easy but keeping ourselves away from it is even easier if we have a strong will and are motivated to do something to make our lives better. Not today, not tomorrow, but we can incorporate these little changes in our routine every single day to experience the big change!

Cure Diabetes Naturally with H2O (Herbal Homeo Orientation)

The festive spirit and good food around can make the successful management of one’s calorie intake tough, particularly in those living with diabetes.

Research suggests that during winter, people living with diabetes tend to have higher HbA1c levels than during the warmer months.

When liver fails to performs these functions properly then the entire burden goes on insulin. To complete the need of insulin in body pancreas gland responsible for insulin production got affected.

Diabetes, often referred to by doctors as diabetes mellitus, describes a group of metabolic diseases in which the person has high blood glucose (blood sugar), either because insulin production is inadequate, or because the body’s cells do not respond properly to insulin, or both.

Patients with high blood sugar will typically experience frequent urination, they will become increasingly thirsty and hungry.

In result, insulin glands become weak and high glucose level in blood become the obvious outcome.

Detox Your Body

Detox Your Body

Detox Your Body Now.

Now as we celebrated Diwali yesterday, many of us had sweets and gracious sweets.

Honestly, it would be unfair to resist this indulgence, especially during this festive season.

Lemons – The acidic content in lemons will help you get rid of a heavy stomach feeling and bloating. Lemon also helps in smooth movement of food in our gastrointestinal tract. You can have lemon with lukewarm water on an empty stomach every morning.

Honey – Along with lemon and water, addition of honey helps in relieving constipation. This water will help in digestion and get rid of toxins in the body.

Spinach – Your body needs fiber. Festival binging often brings with it foods rich in fats and low in fiber. Because of this we often end up constipated. Spinach will help build up bulk in the body and clean the gastrointestinal tract.

Tomatoes – Yes, tomatoes are an underrated super food. Since during festive time we indulge in too many fried snacks, we end up consuming trans fats which are cancerous in nature. Eating tomatoes will help cut this cancerous effect in our body.

Cucumber – Cucumbers help produce more urine in the body which consequently means it secretes toxins out of the body.

Also, cucumber is a diuretic food which means it helps in excess losing water from our body.

Beetroot – Beetroot is known to cleanse our liver. Therefore, after a heavy alcohol night, blanch beetroots and have them.

Beetroots contain betalains which help neutralize toxins and flush them from our body through urine

Onions – Surprising as it may be, onions help cut toxins from other foods. This due to the antioxidants present in onions.

If you are a diabetic and indulged in heavily fried foods during Diwali, onions will help regulate blood sugar level.

Festive Skin Care - Let Your Skin Do The Talking This Festive Season!

Festive Skin Care - Let Your Skin Do The Talking This Festive Season!

Festive season is a time of fun, beauty and indulgence. There is always an excitement when Diwali is around the corner. It is all about fun, mingling with your family and friends, and eating sweets and snacks. But during this mood of elation and celebration, one forgets that what goes inside also shows up externally. There are the endless parties for which you would dress up and style. So there will be the blow drying, ironing, styling, make-up, late nights, and to top it all, the alcohol and cigarettes. This, coupled with the excess smoke and pollution affects the skin and hair to a large extent.

Here are few tips on how can you keep your skin glowing and hair healthy during the festive season. To start with, let me explain what damages your skin and hair and how.

  1. SugarSugar suppresses the activity of our white blood cells and thus makes us more susceptible to infections. It also worsens allergies and causes damage because of the breaking down of good proteins, leading to the formation of Advanced Glycation End-products (AGE). AGE makes the proteins in the collagen and hair stiff and hard; thus speeding up the process of skin ageing and making the hair brittle. One of the main reasons for wrinkles, deep lines, and sagging skin is AGE. So gorging high sugar foods during festivals can lead to fine lines and excessive dryness. So please be mindful of what you are eating during this time.
  2. Smoke – Smoke and pollution damage hair and skin. It makes the skin dry and scalp irritated or even itchy. Too much exposure can lead to boils/ folliculitis, skin rash, and acne exacerbation. To prevent this, you should wash your hair and body thoroughly the day after the festival to counteract the damage caused by smoke and ash.
  3. Excessive make-up and styling – You need to dress up and look pretty on festival days. This means excessive make-up and hair styling products, blow drying, and ironing. Not all this is harmful, but what worsens the situation is when you ignore or forget to remove them all off after the party is over. Always remember to follow your night-time skincare regime and cleanse your hair of all the styling products.
  4. Alcohol and cigarettes – These worsen the condition of your hair and skin. Alcohol makes the skin flushed and dehydrated with broken capillaries. And cigarettes compromise the blood supply to your skin. So cut down on cigarettes and alcohol as much as possible.

Do’s and Don’ts

  • Be on a healthy diet always, especially a month before the festivals start.
  • Avoid too many sweets.
  • Drink plenty of fluids like water, coconut water, and buttermilk.
  • Try to cut down on your alcohol intake and cigarettes.
  • Apply an anti-oxidant cream which contains vitamin A, C, E or Q10 during the day, underneath your sunscreen.
  • Remove every trace of make-up and apply a good nourishing night cream.
  • Start oiling your hair with light oils like the ones which are coconut-based.
  • Do not use mousse on hair. If you do, then wash it off at night or the next morning.
  • Blow drying with low heat is better than ironing. Ironing can lead to hair breakage.
  • Avoid harsh surface chemical treatments during the Diwali month – be it for skin or hair.
  • Include some cardio exercises in your daily routine.

So, follow these simple steps to look gorgeous and feel gorgeous during this festive season!
