The Gamma Linoleic acid present in evening primrose oil is said to be effective in the treatment of bone-related problems, such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoporosis. When taken with fish oil and calcium, evening primrose oil helps in decreasing bone loss and increases bone density. It effectively reduces the pain and stiffness associated with rheumatoid arthritis. In case of osteoporosis, it helps in balancing the sex hormones, growth hormone, and parathyroid hormone which are said to result in loss of bone mass.

This action is mainly shown by increasing the production of cervical mucus, which is an important factor in successful reproduction. The cervical fluid is essential for allowing the sperm to move freely through the cervix. In many cases, women have little or no cervical fluid, which makes it difficult for the movement and sustenance of sperm cells. Also, the high levels of essential fatty acids in the oil affect the uterine cells as well. The contraction and relaxation induced by the action of the oil help in the preparation for pregnancy.

Premenstrual syndrome

Linoleic acid and Gamma-Linoleic acid present in evening primrose oil support to maintain the overall hormonal function in the body. It helps in subsiding symptoms related to excessive menstrual bleeding, bloating, water retention, irritability, headaches, cramps, breast tenderness, acne, depression and foggy thinking. The action of evening primrose oil is said to be achieved by preventing prolactin from triggering the symptoms of PMS.

The intake of evening primrose oil is said to show less frequent, shorter and less severe hot flashes in post-menopausal women. It also helps in reducing depression and improves social activity between relationships in post-menopausal women. High levels of omega-6 fatty acids present in the oil play a crucial role in supporting the overall hormonal function in the body.

Acne

By acting as an anti-inflammatory substance, the Gamma Linoleic acid present in the evening primrose oil helps in reducing acne by subsiding skin inflammation. It also reduces the number of skin cells that cause acne or lesion. It also helps in retaining the moisture on the skin. By balancing the hormones, evening primrose oil has shown to be more effective than topical treatments in reducing acne in teenagers and menopausal women.

Skin health

Evening primrose oil is effective in improving skin’s elasticity, fatigue resistance, moisture and firmness. It helps in maintaining a smooth skin, where the omega-6-fatty acids help in maintaining proper skin structure and function. It is effective in treating the conditions like itching, edema, crusting and redness. They also aid in skin disorders, such as eczema, psoriasis and atopic dermatitis.

Hair loss

As hormonal fluctuations result in hair loss and thinning, evening primrose oil proves to be effective in its treatment as it balances hormones in the body. It reduces dihydrotestosterone levels that cause hair loss in men. It subsides high levels of thyroid and stress hormones which result in hair loss in women. This essential oil is proven to be effective in preventing balding and hair thinning even in topical application.

Heart health

Every time I grow my hairs bigger they get damaged rough dry what should I do too keep them healthy I used to oil them daily morning and night both the time but still this happens.

Some of the tips for dry, damaged and rough hairs are- 1. Repair damage with an avocado- Mash a ripe avocado (pit removed) with one egg, then apply this home remedy to wet hair. Avocados are rich in vitamins, essential fatty acids, and minerals that will help restore luster to your hair, Leave on for at least 20 minutes, then rinse several times. Repeat once a week for damaged hair and once a month for healthy hair. 2. Massage in butter- Try this home remedy: treat dry, brittle hair with a small amount of butter for a glossy shine. Massage it into your dry hair, then cover your hair with a shower cap for about a half hour. Shampoo as usual, and rinse all the butter out 3. Condition with olive oil- Put the moisture back into dry hair by warming up 1/2 cup olive oil (do not boil it), and then rubbing it into your hair. Cover tresses with a plastic bag, then wrap everything in a towel. Let this home remedy do its thing for 45 minutes, then shampoo and completely rinse 4. Rinse with tea- You may think of tea as a sore throat remedy, but you can also use it to give hair a natural shine. Use a quart of warm, unsweetened tea (freshly brewed or instant) as a final rinse after your regular shampoo. Tea can enhance hair color, so make sure to use a tea that works with your hair color. Blondes should use chamomile tea; black tea may darken their tresses. Brunettes should use black tea to enhance shine and enrich color. 5. Whip up an apple cider vinegar mask- Put the life back into your limp or damaged hair with this terrific home remedy: combine 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar with 2 tablespoons olive oil and 3 egg whites, then rub the mix into your hair. Keep your hair covered for about a half hour using plastic wrap or a shower cap, then shampoo and rinse 6. Treat with botanical oils- Available at health food stores, olive, jojoba, and sweet almond oils are all wonderful elixirs for damaged hair. If your hair is thick and heavy, coconut oil works well. Dampen your hair and apply small amounts of the botanical oil until your hair is thoroughly covered. Top off with shower cap and warm towel for about 30 minutes, then rinse and shampoo your hair out. 7. Try sandalwood oil- Mix a few drops of sandalwood oil with a few drops of olive or jojoba oil, rub the mixture between your palms, then smooth it through the ends of your hair for instant sleekness and a way to curb and condition brittle, flyaway hair 8. Wrap wet hair dry- Instead of rubbing your hair after you get it wet, wrap up your damaged hair in a cotton towel, and let the cotton absorb the moisture for a few minutes. This helps protect against further split ends. 9. Use a humidifier at night- Your home heating probably keeps the air very dry, especially in winter, and that can dry out your hair. Putting moisture back into the air will help your hair from becoming more dry and damaged. 10. Let your hair down- If you usually wear your hair in a ponytail, take it out for a few hours a day to give your hair a break. Also, try not to pull hair back too tightly. And never sleep with any sort of accessories in your hair. 11. Eat your omega-3s- Take one to three 250-milligram capsules of evening primrose oil, or flax seed oil one to three times a day. They are rich in omega-3 fatty acids like gamma-linolenic acid, great for keeping hair (and nails) moisturized. I hope this will help you. For more queries contact us.

Hello lybrate-user, As you mentioned you are suffering from Fibroadenoma of the breast. It happens due to hormonal changes at your age and it is very common. It need not to remove as it is completely innocuous. As in your case, it is painful, you can get it removed. The procedure itself will be minor and can be done under local anesthesia. There has been the role of evening primrose oil, which is available in chemist shops in capsule form, and to be started at 1gm 4 times a day with Vitamin E capsules. These remedies can be tried, but in your case, surgical removal would be rather simple and curative option. Good luck.

How to treat hot flashes after menopause?
A hot flash, at times called a hot flush, is a speedy sensation of heat and once in a while a red, flushed face accompanied by sweating. The exact reason for hot flashes is not known, but rather might be associated with changes in circulation. Hot flashes happen when the blood vessels close to the skin's surface widen to cool. A woman may likewise sweat to chill off her body. What is more, a few ladies have a fast heart rate or chills. Hot flashes are the most common symptom of menopause.

Hot flashes differ among women experiencing menopause. A few of them have hot flashes for a brief span during menopause. Other ladies may have hot flashes forever. For the most part, hot flashes are less extreme over time. You most likely cannot maintain a strategic distance from hot flashes during menopause, yet there are things that might make them more serious. To prevent hot flashes, keep away from these triggers:

  1. Stress
  2. Caffeine
  3. Liquor
  4. Spicy nourishments
  5. Tight clothing
  6. Heat
  7. Tobacco or smoke

Different things you can do to keep hot flashes under control include:

  1. Stay cool: Keep your room cool during the evening. Use fans during the day. Wear light layers of garments with regular strands, for example, cotton. Using cooling pads to lay your head on during the evening may be useful.
  2. Breathing: Try deep and moderate stomach breathing (six to eight breaths for each moment). Try to relax for fifteen minutes in the morning, fifteen minutes at night and at the onset of hot flashes.
  3. Exercise: Exercise every day. Walking, swimming, moving, and bicycling are all great ways to keep fit and keep hot flashes at bay.
  4. Hormone substitution treatment: Talk to your specialist about taking hormone substitution treatment, or HRT, for a brief span – less than 5 years. This treatment prevents hot flashes from occurring in numerous women. In addition, it can help different symptoms of menopause, including vaginal dryness and mood issue. Remember that when you quit taking HRT, the hot flashes may return. Short-term HRT has a few dangers, including blood clots and gallbladder aggravation. In case that HRT is not a good fit for you, there are different medicines that may offer help.
  5. Botanicals and herbs: Some herbs can help soothe the hot flashes. These are:
    • Soy items: Plant estrogens, found in soy items, are thought to have weak estrogen-like impacts that may decrease hot flashes. Soy food and not supplements are prescribed.
    • Dark cohosh: A few studies propose that dark cohosh might be useful in the short-term (six months or less) to treat hot flashes and night sweats. Symptoms include gastrointestinal problems.
