lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. Madam please understand the condition hypothyroidism occurs when one's thyroid gland is not able to synthesise adequate amount of thyroxine (t4 hormone). This hormone is required for most of the metabolic activities in our body. If it is not available in adequate quantities then tsh level goes up, plus patient develops a number of symptoms like weight gain, slow hear rate, tiredness, early fatigue, menstrual problems, dry skin, dry hair, hair fall, anxiety, joint and muscle pain and many more issues. To correct that situation there is a need to supplement that hormone, which is given as levothyroxine. If one takes adequate dosage of this then the condition is controlled effectively. However, the treatment is for lifetime. Thanks.
