Gum problems are now considered as sixth complication of diabetes. Hence a diabetic patient has to be very careful and get gum problems treated as soon as possible. We advise to get a thorough deep cleaning for all the patients atleast once a year. Same thing can is applied to diabetics as well. In addition diabetics should always keep a check on the sugar levels. Brush their teeth twice a day as shown by their respective dentists. Plus regular flossing and use of mouthwash is also encouraged. For bad odour, it is very important to first understand the etiology of it. If it is due to food lodgment or gum problems then it can be fixed by a simple teeth cleaning. Diabetics are very prone to bad breath, especially a fruity breath if their sugar is constantly high. So once again keeping sugar in check is most important. Certain chewing gums can also be used to mask the bad breath. But such measures are only for masking. Its most important to treat the underlying cause first and then use such masking measures.Â

Thanks for considering me. As patient seems to be uncontrolled diabetic so my first suggestion to you that Monitor your blood sugar level, and follow your doctor's instructions for keeping your blood sugar level within your target range. The better you control your blood sugar level, the less likely you are to develop bleeding gums and bad odour problems. My personal suggestions to you that Brush in the morning, at night and, ideally, after meals and snacks. Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste that contains fluoride. Avoid vigorous or harsh scrubbing, which can irritate your gums. Floss your teeth at least once a day. Flossing helps remove plaque between your teeth and under your gumline. If you have trouble getting floss through your teeth, use the waxed variety. Use 0.1 % chorlhexidine mouth washes that will definitely help in getting rid off your bad breath and bleeding from gums. Don't smoke. Smoking increases the risk of serious diabetes complications, including gum disease. If you smoke, i would help you in cessation of smoking. Go for scaling if the blood sugar level is in controlled limits. Any queries after this will be welcomed.Â

Gingivitis (bleeding gums) is an early form of gum disease. If our teeth get over exposed to bacteria it can over time damage the gums.Good diabetic control and good oral hygiene can help prevent gingivitis develop into more serious form of gum disease. If our blood glucose levels are high, our saliva will have higher levels of glucose too and this encourages bacteria to grow and increase the risk of our gums becoming damaged. It can be treated if taken extra care in ensuring that teeth are cleaned twice daily and flossed daily. Use mouthwash to help kill bacteria. Regular visits to dentist to prevent gingivitis develop into more serious form of gum disease. Keeping blood glucose levels well controlled will also help to prevent gingivitis.Â

It is first very necessary to keep ur sugar level under control by consulting ur general physician and taking the necessary oral hypoglycemic drug in correct doses or by subcutaneous injection of necessary dose of insulin. Then you have to take necessary precautions for maintaining the oral hygiene. If u have bleeding gums then u are having gingivitis or in some stage of periodontitis. Get ur scaling and root planning done and then use hexidine mouth wash 2 times per day, mixing with water in 1:1 ratio. And use soft brush with colgate sensitive pro relief toothpaste. It's a good toothpaste for relieving sensitivity of teeth if there is any.And apply metrogyl d.G gel 2 times for 2 weeks for conditioning the gums. Thank you. Â
