Teeth whitening also called as bleaching is a safe procedure for making your teeth whiter than before but recommended to be done under the supervision of your dentist. Your dentist will first determine the health of your gums and teeth and then recommend you the procedure.

I am a paan chewer. Mu gum often swell and tooth pains when chewing. I used Hexagel, Muco pain for temporary relief. Any permanent remedy?

MDS - Periodontics
Dentist, Gurgaon
U may be suffering from Periodontitis (Gum Disease). Which is usually aggravated by tobacco chewing. In Periodontitis the gum detaches from the tooth surface and forms deep crevices called as pockets. The treatment in such a case is Teeth cleaning and cleaning of the gums followed by evaluation of the status of bone that holds the teeth. Which if found to be involved would require gum surgical therapy

I am 23 years old. My teeth are a little yellow. When I went to a free dental checkup he told there is no problem in your teeth and gums although he suggested to get a gum cleanup. I brush 2 times daily with coalgate advanced. I would appreciate any suggestion.

cleanup is usually advised every 6 months as there are certain areas of our mouth where the toothbrush cannot clean well. A cleanup will remove any accumulations on your teeth. This may not change the yellowness of your teeth if the internal shade of your tooth is yellowish. If you want to change the shade of your tooth, you may need to go for dental whitening.

Root canal is kind of a cleaning of carries teeth. And not always successful if the carries spread to other teeth. And the pain is usually because of the gingival inflammation. Either you should consult the dentist again or consult for a homoeopathic treatment. You may try taking homoeopathic medicine Myristica 30 3 doses 1 hourly and then report after 2 days.

Hey bad breath can have many reasons like intraoral i.e. No sufficient cleaning of teeth and tongue and some infections. Or can have extraoral causes like GIT disturbances, respiratory tract infections etc. So get your complete check up done. And don't forget to brush twice daily and clean your tongue.

Hi! I a. Suffering from oral submocous fibrosis for a year ago please help me to cure that serious disease.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Hi! I a. Suffering from oral submocous fibrosis for a year ago please help me to cure that serious disease.
Quit habits strictly. Seems like you have oral submucous fibrosis (osmf). Kindly consult an oral & maxillo facial surgeon in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need conservative or surgical management for mouth opening depending upon the stage of osmf. Advise full mouth opening, ballooning exercise & side to side movement of the jaw. Wrap 25 to 30 ice-cream sticks, make a bundle, put it between upper & lower front teeth for 15 minutes thrice a day increase 1 sticks each day.
