Hi doctors, my HbA1c test result done in November was 10 which was when I was diagnosed with diabetes. Now after changing my lifestyle with daily exercise and gym I retook the test yesterday n it has come down to 8.3. Even though it is still high, I am hoping to get it the normal range without any meds. What I want to know is, what all diet should I follow to make sure my sugar level comes down to normal range without any meds. Thank you.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. It is good to know that you have brought down HbA1c% to 8.3 % from earlier higher level. Please understand that by changing or adapting a modified lifestyle, one can control blood glucose levels fairly well. Hiwever, if ones HbA1c% has crossed 6.5% (showing confirmed diabetes), then it is almost impossible to bring it back to normal only by lifestyle and dietary changes. Drugs treatment is essential. Another aspect that I notice is that with a BMI of 30.06 kgs/M2 BMI you are alreqdy in grade 1 obesity. This is a major culprit for inducing diabetes. As regards the diet, I need to know following details to suggest one: Present dietary pattern, extent of diaily exercise, fasting and PP blood glucose levels. Without these I will not be able to give a specific diet chart. Thanks.
