Thanks for reaching out. Since you already had such high sugar levels and is now in control range, my advice to you is please continue taking m tablets as it will keep the sugar in check. In case you discontinue abruptly then you may feel well for the time being but when the levels will rise again (it will most definitely) then even tablets won't help control it, you will have to take insulin injections and also have serious kidney complications. Take care.

Hello, thanks for the query.
I have seen the points mentioned. I understand that your mother has cough and she is on amoxy=clavulanic acid 625 and some cough syrup. However, there is no mention about the dosage of amoxy+ clav 625 (how many times a day). Plus whether the blood glucose is in good control or not. Because if diabetes is not in control, then infections also take long time get cured. Plus adequate dosage is required. So please come back with full information (age, fasting, pp glucose & hba1c%). Then I will be able to give specific suggestions. Thanks.
Dear lybrate-user, thanks for reaching out.
After thoroughly reading his usg report & the fact that he has diabetes my advice to you is:
1. The doctor's are right to have him undergo operation because if the stones are not removed right away they may further block the bile duct which will lead to jaundice or may go to intestines which can complicate into swelling of whole abdomen with pain vomiting and constipation.
May be the doctors will do the operation after the pain and fever decreases or right away depending on the patient condition.
2. Since his blood sugar levels are higher than normal so there in increase in the risk of having infections more than normal person with calculus cholecystitis.
3. Please don't worry about the complications/ cost of the operation because ultimately healthy life is most precious than anything else.
Take care.
Dear lybrate-user, thanks for reaching out.
Intermittent fasting is now popular for reducing weight but it has rigorous rules to be maintained & some basic health advice to be followed.
1. Yes you can help normal lunch as first meal. In fact I suggest you take a healthy balanced meal with equal parts of carbohydrates and green leafy vegetables along with protein like dal/ 1 whole egg/ legumes/ etc. Also include loads of fruits or you can have salads during the non fasting period.
2. During the fasting window you may have lime juice with a pinch of salt so that you don't feel light headed/ tired and can do normal work like everyday. 3. In case you feel light headed, extremely tired or have severe headaches which is common during starting this kindly lie down with feet up and also you should have ors 1 glass/ coconut water with lime juice separately/ homemade ors.
Then consult me or any other general physician.
Take care.
