Dear Lybrateuser, - For mild depression you can follow some lifestyle measures: - eat a well balanced diet with more of fruits & vegetables including green leafy & seasonal ones, whole grains, protein foods, healthy fats including omega 3 fatty acids - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming, yoga, meditation & deep breathing for 10-15 min daily morning which is very important factor to feel alert, confidant & fit - proper sleep is another very important factor, sleep well for at least 7-8 hrs at night, keep your sleep & wake up time fixed, do not nap for more than half an hour in the afternoon, a good sound sleep is a great stress reliever & the body & mind feels energised & revitalised - listen to music, read, play a game, keep yourself busy & active, think positive, achieve a task in a day you will feel better - talk to friends, family, socialise - consult a psychiatrist if not much improvement as proper assessment will be required before starting any medication.
