My thyroid level is 4.08 uIU/MI and I am taking 12.5 mcg of thyroxine. As I am planning for pregnancy now, should I increase the tablet dose or continue with the same dose. Need an Endocrinologist's advice.

Hello, Thanks for the query. It is better to maintain TSH around 2 mU/L if pregnancy is planed. Therefore, dosage may have to be increased to 25 mcg. Once the conception does occur then it is absolutely essential to maintain TSH around 2 mU/L all through the gestation period. Because it is necessary for fetal development, growth and expected out come of pregnancy. Thanks.
