I just recently had my blood reports and I found my thyroid value of 7 and after consulting Dr. They gave me thyroxine 12. 5 mg (two tablets early morning empty stomach) What other precautions should I take to control my thyroid? Also I?m suffering from gas problems And there is a slight pain in the naval area after the dose of thyroxine.

Hello, Thanks for the query. With TSH 7.0 mU/L, the condition is classified as sub-clinical hypothyroidism. If there are no symptoms related to that condition then there is no need for any treatment. Usually treatment is initiated when TSH goes above 10 mU/L or if there are severe symptoms present even at lower levels. There are no special precautions, except taking the tablet on empty stomach, not taking soy beans and soy containing foods. Thanks.
