Cow Ghee

Cow ghee which is produced from cow milk has medicinal value and offers several health benefits. It primarily contains butterfat, along with water and milk proteins. It is made following a simple procedure of boiling butter and then removing the butterfat. Its proteins (whey and casein) and milk solids are removed this way. Cow ghee is what is left behind.

Nutritional Value of Cow Ghee

Cow ghee has all the necessary nutrients along with antiviral, antioxidant, antifungal and antibacterial properties. Cow ghee contains a high amount of saturated fat which is approximately 7.9 grams per serving. Just as all fats, cow ghee is comparatively high in calories; roughly one tablespoon of serving contains 112 calories. According to American Heart Association’s recommendation, the total fat intake should be between 25-30% of total calories. So for a person with a 2000 caloried diet, the ideal fat consumption should be between 56-78 grams, of which the saturated fat shouldn’t be more than 16 grams. Two teaspoons of neem, mixed with a teaspoon of turmeric powder and half cup of cow ghee can be applied to heal wounds. In leech therapy, ghee is applied over the infected area. It is advised to use cow ghee over bleeding wounds to have some cooling effect and achieve speedy recovery

Post-surgery recovery

Earlier, cow ghee was used as a base to make wicks that were used post-surgery. It is also applied over operated sutures for quick recovery. In ayurveda practice, piles and fistula were treated using a special preparation called Kshara; cow ghee can be used on that area after the procedure to ease the burning sensation and discomfort. Cow ghee is an outstanding injury healing agent, if it is applied locally. In children, while doing ear lobe puncturing, cow ghee is used first to reduce pain & irritability while it also eases piercing.

Reduces bladder pain

To reduce the pain in the bladder region, it is advised to have a teaspoon of cow ghee every morning as it helps in relieving the pain. In chronic fever, garlic clove along with cow ghee is prescribed in the diet. To relieve dryness of taste buds and oral cavity, amla powder and raisins are mixed with cow ghee and kept inside the oral cavity for a few minutes. Haritaki powder is used with cow ghee to ease burning sensation. In the treatment of low blood count, Triphala decoction added with cow ghee and sugar is useful.

Allergy is a disorder in which the body becomes hypersensitive to particular antigens which provokes characteristic symptoms whenever they are subsequently encounter, whether inhaled, ingested, infected or otherwise contacted. Normally antibodies in the blood stream and tissues react with and destroy specific antigen without further trouble. Different allergies afflict different tissues and may have either local or general effects. When a person's routine life is disturbed, he gets disturbed and agitated and functioning of endocrine glands gets adversely affected which ultimately causes, at time allergic reaction/metabolic changes. You should avoid Urad, banana, oil fried food spices. Saline water gargle should be done before meals. Non-irritating and bland diet, hot water, lemon, green and leafy vegetables particularly having sour and bitter taste. You can also doing this at home: 6-7 basil leaves 5-6 cloves (powder) 2-3 black piper 1/4 teaspoon ginger paste all this add in 150 ml of water then boiling mild flame and reduce to 100 ml. Later filtered and allowed to warm o it's own. Then add 2 teaspoon of honey and drink .it gives you relieved. Hot water steam will also facilitate draining from the nose and also provide relief in pain over forehead. Every day, in morning put 3-4 drops of cow ghee in your both nasal then sleep 10 to 15 min. I am suffering from a lot of dandruff flake form on scalp and excessive hair fall these days .It causes itching.

When I eat eggs (boiler and local) not matter bhurji or omelette or curry then always I need to suffer from loose motion I am having this problem from last 3-4 years. What would be the reasons? How to avoid this?

Dear Lybrate user it seems that your stomach is sensitive to things you mentioned. Avoid more spicy and oily foods. Include cow ghee 2-3 tsp regularly in your food. Take tab panchamrit parpati 250 mg twice daily for about 5 days.

I am diabetic under control. Many people suggested to have cow ghee which can help to reduce the cholesterol levels and helps In controlling calories.

I donot recommend excessive cow ghee. 1 tbsp a day maximum. It doesnot help reduce cholesterol. It just gives some good fats required by body for joints. Also heating ghee on high flame is not recommended.

Lower back pain is among one of those ailments that brings life to standstill. Nowadays most common reason for absence at job or college is Back pain. It gives you nothing bur restless and depressed day and sleepless night. It ruins your life's small moments of joy. 

What is low backache? 

It is the pain that felt in lower back which usually originates from joints, bones, muscles, nerves or other structures in spine. 

What is spine? 

Vertebral column or backbone or spine consists of 33 bones; called as vertebrae. Lower 9 are fused in adults. 

  1. Cervical spine in neck region: 7 vertebrae (C1-C7)
  2. Thoracic Spine in upper back: 12 vertebrae (T1-T12)
  3. Lumbar spine in lower back: 5 vertebra (L1-L5)
  4. Sacrum in Lower back Fused: 5 vertebrae (S1-S5)
  5. Coccyx (tailbone) fused: 3-5 vertebrae. 

Significance of Vertebral column:

  1. The major function of vertebral column is protection of spinal cord.

  • Spondylitis: It is inflammatory Arthritis affecting the spinal bones. 
  • Spondylolisthesis: It is forward displacement of vertebra over another. 
  • Skeletal irregularities: If spinal curve is abnormal backpain can occur. 
  • Osteoporosis: If vertebrae become porous and brittle, it can cause compression fractures. 
  • Coccydynia: Pain at tailbone is called as Coccydynia. 

Pregnancy: Almost all women experience low back pain during Pregnancy. Maternal weight gain, increased lordosis (Curvature of spine), Stretching of ligaments, increased calcium demand can cause backpain in Pregnancy.

Backache - Ayurvedic Aspects 

According to Ayurveda Backache (Kati shool, Kati graha, Trik graha, Prushtha Shool) is one of the common disease occurring because of vitiated vata dosha, so it is considered as "Vata- Vyadhi." 

Line of treatment of Vata - Vyadhi

Abhyanga (Massage): Sesame oil, Mahanarayan Oil, Prasarini oil can be used for Massage. 

Swedan (Fomentation): Moist steam of herbs like Dashmool , Nirgundi etc. 

Katibasti: Kati basti is pouring of lukewarm medicated oil and keeping it for sometime on the back region surrouded by ring made by black gram or whole wheat flour. 

Basti: Basti is one of the most important treatments if vitiated vata. Basti can be performed in various forms according to stage of disease and constitution of patient. 

Medicated oil and medicated decoction enema on alternate days for 8 days/15 days or 30 days.

Matrabasti: 60 ml medicated oil enema. 

Panchatikta ksheer basti: It is most useful in management of degenerative bone disease, in which herbs like Adulsa, Guduchi, Nimb, Kantakari and Patol are cooked in cow milk. Sometimes cow ghee can also be mixed. 

Medicines: Gokshuradi guggul, Trayodashang guggul, Yograj guggul can be used under proper guidance. 

Ashwagandha, Musta , Vidang, Ajmoda , Chopchini, Rasna, Devdaru, Punarnava, Shatavari, Shankhabhasma are some useful medicines for backache. 

Yogasana: Yogasana should be learned from experienced teacher. Some yogasana helpful for backache are:

    • If administered for 6 months, the baby will become Srutadhara (will be able to remember the things, which are just heard).
    • You can follow a dosage for a period of 30 days. You may extend this till 180 days. Afterwards follow up on every pushyanaxatra(पुष्यनक्षत्र).
    • Your child should face the east side when taking this medicine. Shuvarnprashan is also known by other names such as Swarna amruta prashana, Swarna bindu prashana, Suvarna prashan, Swarna prashana and Swarnaprashan.

However, in conditions such as acute fever, swarnprashan can increase your body temperature. It is contraindicative in condition such as diarrhea, vomiting. Hence, it is important to consult an experienced and well-known Ayurveda practitioner before starting this Ayurveda process

With the onset of Navratri from today, our religious and devotional side gets lighted up but some of us feel very restricted as to what to eat and what not to eat during the fasts so that we do not put on weight by eating those oily foods.

  1. Baked potatoes – Instead of frying them bake them or air fry them.

  4. Suhang Ke Chawal -- Make a batter out of suhang ke chawal ka atta and make small tomato uttapams with it. You can also boil them and eat with any vegetable. You can also make  khichdi.
  5. Paneer Tikka -- Make paneer tikka at home and have it with chacch.
  6. Makhanas -- These are again a very healthy and low fat snack item. Roast them and have them with green tea. They are good source of calcium and anti oxidants.
  7. Fruit Yogurt – Mix your favourite fruits in yogurt and enjoy.
  8. Sabudana – Make baked sabudana tikkis. They are good for weightloss. You can also have sabudana khichdi.

Allergic rhinitis is also known as hay fever.   5. Capsaicin: Extracted from red peppers, this wonder ingredient can help in desensitising the nerve fibres in thenasal tract which create hyperresponsiveness of the nose. In this way, this ingredient can curb the allergic reaction.
  6. Gavyamrut Grut: Gavyamrut Grut is made by mixing pure cow ghee with certain herbs. It should be used as nasal drops and is a very effective and time tested remedy for allergic rhinitis.

All the physical problems can be made easy by attitude towards the problems-that means how you take and solve them. Problems or people always appear hard nuts to crack at the first impression but it needs sportiness of 100% to please anyone or crack any nut. Never duck out or go into a shell by reacting to anything. Never say immediately it's all over or just get out of my life, as the other person coming into your life could be even still worse or even hiv positive. The best part of hiv positive people is that they are at least positive in something and they are better than those people who see negative in everything.

Just start your day by saying I am open and free and not carrying any blocks in my head or heart. Secondly recharge your mind by walks, jogging, yoga, pranayam, cold water baths, massages, perfumes, meditations, and completing daily chores without any sort of procrastination. Thirdly eat light raw foods and only warm liquids or otherwise digestion and activity will slow down badly. Fourthly ease in all ways, work, playfulness, romantic talk, smile, behaviour, self confidence, self-respect, a little self-love without any doubting sucking angry attitude or talk makes heaven even in hell. Fifthly herbs, cow milk, cow ghee etc with your doctor's advice will add spark too.

Sixth a kerala type or variety playful massage removes energy and mood blocks very nicely from my personal experience and also the communication blocks and starts the sex or romance all over again.

Aroma baths or salt water baths and herbal vaginal douche removes those smells which can put off anybody totally.
