Hi doctor, I am 23 years old female. I have thyroid and the level is 4.70 IU/ml. Doctor suggested me to take thyronorm 25 mcg. Is it good or shall I increase the dose. Whether it is curable? For how many days I should take the tablets.

lybrate-user, The TSH level 4.7 mU/L, mentioned is after treatment or based on that you were informed to have hypothyroidism? Because 4.7 mU/L is a normal level. Only when TSH goes beyond 6 mU/L it is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism and when levels cross 10 mU/L treatment is advocated. However, in some cases when hypothyroidism related symptoms are reported then even in sub-clinical situation (6 to 9.9 mU/L) treatment is given. It is a hormone deficiency disease, hence supplement has to be given daily for lifetime. There is no cure. Thanks.
