Could diarrhea have stunted my growth? I am a 19-year-old male, my height is 163, my dad is 168, my mom is 151 cm. I have also been constantly underweight (52 kg). I had chronic diarrhea for about 4 years (when I was around 15 years old), I only grew one cm in those 4 years from 2015 (i was 15 yrs) to 2018 (18 years old ). I was barely eating and skipped meals, I had a complete loss of appetite and I mostly didn?t feel hungry. I didn't seek medication until the condition became unbearable (very painful with lots of diarrhea per day) in the fourth year. I did a stool analysis and there was entamoeba histolytica with undigested food (could that have lead to malabsorption that could have stunted growth in addition to my very little eating?) frequency: I had diarrhea once a day and sometimes twice a day (sometimes with very watery diarrhea) it took many drugs but I didn't get better at all and when I did another stool analysis after the medication, I got the same results: e.histolytica and undigested food. I was going to do a colonoscopy but I avoided it because I was a little afraid and went to another doctor, took a new drug and then I suddenly became fine after diarrhea stopped, I have grown 3 cm in 6 months from August 2018 (i was 18 and 5 months old by then) to February 2019. I went to an endocrine doctor and he measured the proportion of my vertical length to my horizontal (i had my arm extended like at pose) and said that my vertical height is 10 cm shorter than it should be for proportion. I also wasn't into sports, was very inactive through my teenage years, stayed in the home except for school days. What do you think? Thanks in advance.
