How long does one have to take thyroid medicines? I was diagnosed last year and have been taking thyroid since then. But upon my recent tests my tsh levels were within the prescribed ranges. But my doctor has asked me to continue with the pills. I'm confused as to why?

Your normal or controlled tsh now is due to the throxine medicine you take and to maintain it normally you need thyroxine. If you stop, the tsh will shoot up again and is dangerous.
