Does the thyroid nodules swelling can be identify when doing a normal thyroid test?

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Thyroid function test detects hormonal changes. But whether there is a nodule or cyst etc is not detected. For that ultrasonography of the gland is required. Further if any nodule / nodules detected, then in some cases ultrasonography guided FNAC (Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology) may be required. Thanks.
