Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. T2 Diabetes is tends to run in families. So if both the parents are diabetic then 75% of the children are likely to get it. However, fortunately it is a preventable condition, provided one adapts a modified lifestyle. It means taking a balanced restricted diet, that gives exact calories based on ideal body weight (your ideal body weight is 76 kgs). Plus doing regular exercise for at least 1 hour a day and maintaining near normal weight. In addition one has to avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, colas, pastries, bakery items and foods made out of maida. Also refrain from alcohol and smoking. Looking at your weight and height your BMI is 35 kgs/M2 showing a grade 2 obesity. This is a clear invitation for diabetes. Thanks.
