Bhringraj is an Ayurvedic herb to effectively treat hair fall, skin diseases and liver disorders. The botanical name of Bhringraj is Eclipta Alba, it belongs to the family Asteraceae, and its English name is False Daisy. Bhringraj oil is also referred to as ‘Bhringraj Tail’ and it is a classic ayurvedic preparation.

The chemical constituents of Bhingraj plant are flavonoids, coumestans, alkaloids, polyacetylenes, and thiopenes.

A herb cultivated in marshy lands globally, Bhringaraj is usually found in India, Thailand, China and Brazil. This herb usually grows as an intercrop in South India in the organic rice fields. Bhringaraj is a very important supplementary product for the farmers. From sandy to clay soil, it grows in a wide variety of soils.

Other preferable conditions are low waterlogged areas, roadsides, damp wastelands, paddy or other crop fields and a warm climate. Bhringraj oil is obtained from a plant which is scientifically known as “false daisy”. Leaves from the Bhringaraj plant are usually mixed before heating them with another oil to form Bhringaraj oil.
