My mom is taking thyrox 100 medicine since one year and then her reports were normal but now the tsh level is 17.01 in reports (0.3-5.5 normal range). So she should take what medicine, I mean she should continue taking thyrox 100 or increase power or medicine? Please reply as soon as possible.

Hello, thanks for the query. When a person is taking adequate amount of levothyroxine tsh is maintained around 3 to4 mu/l and t3, t4 are in normal range. At that level hypothyroidism is well controlled and patient is free from all the symptoms of the condition. Now her tsh has gone up to 17.01 mu/l, means her current dosage in not enough.
