Hi doctors, my mother has a problem that when she gets into deep sleep at night. Water fills her mouth and then it bursts and then she has to take long breaths and then cough lasts for 2-3 mins. This happens when she is deep asleep midnight or early morning what kind of prob is this? she has symptoms of fatigue and has a lesion in the throat. Tests say that lesion is not a problem. What can be its cure?

Its gerd. Use pan d for 15 days before food twice a day. Avoid fatty food and spicy. Use gaviscon after food

The sensation of having too much water in your mouth is caused by excessive saliva, or sialorrhea. This condition is often temporary and may be caused by various factors including pregnancy or certain medications. Individuals who wear dentures may experience excessive saliva production, as do babies when teething. Treatment methods for sialorrhea vary depending upon the cause of the condition. Gastroesophageal reflux disease gastroesophageal reflux disease, or gerd, is a common cause of excessive saliva production. Eating a balanced and maintaining a healthy weight may prevent the symptoms associated with gerd, in addition to avoiding foods that commonly cause heartburn and acid reflux. Over-the-counter acid relievers or prescription medications may also provide relief. If other treatment options do not relieve your symptoms, you might consider surgery. Medication adjustment some medications such as clozapine or medications used to treat seizures or mental conditions may cause your saliva glands to produce too much saliva. If you are experiencing excessive saliva production and are taking prescription medication, talk to your doctor about adjusting your dose or finding an alternative medication. What lesion does she have on throat? salivation may increase due to certain nerve stimulation in certain patients. Is she taking any medication for any other known disease like bp etc? medications could alter the flow of saliva in mouth.
