I am 19 years and I am having hypothyroidism from the age of 13. Recently in january 2021 I did my thyroid test and the level of tsh was 10.88 and was prescribed thyronorm of 100 mcg .two days back I got myself tested again since I am having hair fall and body pains and found that my tsh has fall to 0.07. Can you please tell in this concern whether I am having hyperthyroidism now or is it hypothyroidism? And what I can further do?

Tsh normal values are 0.5 to 5.0 miu/l. thyroxine replacement is based on body weight. I need more information on weight. Seems like you're getting over replaced. Another reason is that if you're having hashimotos thyroiditis the tsh could dip at times. Have you ever been tested for anti tpo antibodies and anti thyroglobulin antibodies? And your ft3 and ft4 levels? I would advise to see a physician and hold thyroxine for a while and start at a lesser dose.

lybrate-user ji, thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. Your tsh (0.07 mu/l) is quite low, suggesting the present dosage is high. It needs to be reduced. Please let me know your height, weight and t4 levels as those details are needed to calculate the correct dosage. Otherwise you can straight away reduce it to 75 mcg per day, then check tsh again after 6 weeks to see if desired level is achieved. Ideally tsh should be maintained around 3 to 4 mu/l, at which all the symptoms are in check. If you have any questions please do come back. Thanks.

Dear user this variation is due to intake of thyronorm so nothing to worry, yet its not the proper treatment as this meds once started you will need to continue fir lifetime with various variations in dosage and pause. Better start homeopathic treatment along with it and do not stop this meds of your own unless guided by doctor, and in due time you will recover with all your illness. Tc.
