I think you should increase the dose of medicines in consultation with your treating physician, because your blood sugar is not controlled acceptably. Fasting blood sugar should be around 100 and pp blood sugar 150-170 and hba1c around 7.

Mr Aneesh, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details, your blood glucose levels are fairly good. But considering your age, ideally FBG should be < 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% < 6.5%. our HbA1c% is a bit too high. Most important aspect is you being in grade 2 obesity with a BMI(Body Mass Index) of 36.29 kgs/Sq meter(Normal < 23 kgs /Sq meter), hence there is an excess of over 37 kgs. This is the main culprit for causing diabetes. If you bring down the weight even by about 10 to 15 kgs, your blood glucose will become almost normal. So please concentrate on that. Obesity adds to early development of diabetes related long term complications associated with most of the body systems. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, though your fasting sugar is reasonable pp sugar value and hba1c are high. Pay attention to diet exercise and weight recudion as set out below and you may find better diabetes control as your weight is now 102 kg you are nearly 30-35 kg overweight. If you are unable to lose weight on diet and exercise contact us on a video call and we may be able to help you reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava, maida) in each meal and increase the quantity of protein (dhal, soya, egg white, fish or chicken). Take lot of green leafy vegetables walk 5 km per day and gradually reduce weight by 1 kg per month to ideal body weight (height in cm minus 100 will roughly be your ideal body weight in kg) about 65-70 kg. Monitor blood sugars with glucometer as follows. Fasting and pp on wednesday and 2 hour after lunch and after dinner on sunday and maintain a record. Target fasting of <110 mg/dl and pp < 160 mg/dl. If in spite of dietary adjustment your sugar levels continue to be high and your weight is not coming down take a video appointment
