My father is diabetic with blood sugar (fasting) 137. His right thumb is swollen near the tip at the nail since the past 10 days. The thumb is very painful and full of pus. It is swollen and the pain is unbearable when it touches something. He has been taking an antibiotic called linezolid from past 5 days but no improvement till now. Please suggest some remedy as it's getting very difficult to be with the pain. Height: 5.10 weight: 88 kg diabetic no allergy.

Hello, thanks for the query. First thing is the pus needs to be drained. Unless that is done, there will be no relief from pain. Secondly antibiotic will help only once the pus is removed. Please tell me the particular antibiotic is being taken for how many days? Drainage of pus is a must. Plus blood glucose should also be in good control for checking the infection. So please go to a near by clinic and get it cleaned and dressed. Then continue the antibiotic. Thanks.
