Sir, I am a diabetic and taking azulix 1mf forte twice in a day. My fbs generally between 120 to 130. But after 2 hrs of lunch it shoots to 210 mg/dl ang falls to 150 in 3 to 3.5 hrs. When I was diagnosed with diabetes my a1c was 11.8 later with azulix 2mf forte it came to 6.7 in 3 months. But changed to azulix 1 mf then a1c changed to 7.7 in 6 months. Now taking 1 mf forte for the last one month. Is it that very bad to have over 200 mg/dl. I am taking ragi in the night and oats in the morning. But taking rice for lunch. I am really worried. Can you please suggest me.

Mr Ananth Puranam, Thanks for the query. In a well controlled diabetes patient fasting should be maintained < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, PP should be around 150 to 170 mg and HbA1c% < 6.5%. In persons who are over the age of 60 years plus HbA1c% can be < 7%. In the details given there is no mention about your height, weight, extent of daily exercise, lipid profile, BP readings and your age. Unless all the details are given it is difficult to comment. PP 200 mg or slightly more can be easily controlled by adjustment of dietary intake , adding more of green leafy vegetables, reducing carb intake and by increasing daily physical activity. Then if needed some additional drug or drugs can be considered. Thanks.
