Hi my mother is taking concor 2.5 mg for about 1 year now for blood pressure now she have been diagnosed with pre diabetes now she have completely boycotted sugar and anything containing sugar she is not eating anything with sugar for 2 months from now. Her sugar level comes down a little but not satisfactory results are obtained. I heard that concor can rise sugar levels. She have fasting sugar level high. She eat concor before sleep. Please tell me that can concor have an effect on diabetes.

Hello, thanks for the query. The drug mentioned does not cause any increase in blood glucose levels. Blood glucose rises because of overall food intake like roti, chapati, rice, other cereals, potatoes, bananas etc. So just stopping sugar intake is not going reduce glucose levels. There has to be a closer look at overall diet, extent of exercise, weight & height. Pre-diabetes is a warning sign. One can prevent diabetes if proper care is taken. Thanks.
