Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. With 114 kgs weight I am sure he mist be in second grade obesity. This is a definite hinderance for maintaining a healthy life. Hw may not be having diabetes, but obesity is a known cause for precipitating diabetes. You have mentioned that he likes sweets, consumes quite often. Plus does take alcohol regularly. Both these habits are detrimental to his health. Because excess consumption of sweets does lead to increased fat deposition and weight gain. Alcohol contributes to liver damage leading to Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, progressing slowly but surely to fibrosis and cirrhosis. Following precautions need to be taken: 1) Stop alcohol completely, that can help in improving his liver functions. (Get a LFT done to see how is the liver function now> 2) Stop consumption of sweets, high carbs (refined foods), deep fried foods, pastries, bakery items and fppds made from maida. 3) Stop taking colas. Sweet corn syrup containing foods, and packaged foods. 4) Refrain from smoking, 5) Increase the intake of green leafy vegetables salads and fruits. 5) Always use whole grain flour (atta chanana nahi) for roti and chapati. 6) Get a thyroid function test done, to rule out possibility of hypothyroidism. 7) Has to reduce his total caloric intake by 30% plus. Plus regular exercising daily is absolutely essential. Madam please understand there are no short cuts in this. He has to committ himself completely to cut down his weight. Thanks.
