Make the patient seated comfortably. Ask the preliminary questionnaire like hydration and previous medications. Tighten the arm of the patient by an elastic band. Find a vein to draw the blood sample. If the test is taken for children or toddler find the vein in the thigh. Cleanse the vein area with an alcoholic pad. Insert the syringe and draw out enough blood sample for the test. Press a cotton ball against the poked vein to stop excessive blood coming out.
