Incase of high blood pressure we suggest the person should have a low sodium diet, which means avoiding sodium rich foods such as tomatoes, spinach, common salt, focus more on incorporating fruits in the diet also since the person is over weight it is advised to have a high fibre high protein diet which would not only reduce the weight but also control the cholesterol levels and blood sugar levels. Suggested foods to include in the diet: papaya, oranges, oats, wheat bran, oatbran, quinoa, chia seeds, flax seeds.

High blood pressure is mainly due to excess salt intake or too many tensions in life. Advise him to take enough sleep for 7-8 hours. And indulge in yoga, meditation. Exercise also helps to relieve tension and decrease bp. Hence he should start with a 10 mins brisk walk and slowly increase to 30 mins per day. Regarding diet. Salty things lead to high bp. Reduce the intake of salt per day. Salt intake should be less than 2.5gms (1/2 teaspoon). Strictly avoid all chutneys, pickles, papad, samosa, bajjis, mirchi, chips, fryums, other deep fried snacks, processed foods etc. All together diet and exercise and relaxation practices if monitored strictly will reduce bp my 10 mm. LDL is increased only if you consume alot of dalda, meat, deep fried foods and other processed foods as mentioned above. Cut down on oil consumption by consuming everyday dal (pulses) rather than fried vegetables. Example. Palak dal (spinach dal) is preferable than palak sabji (fried spinach curry) Hence make side dishes where you loose less oil only for seasoning and not for cooking.
