Dear lybrateuser, - Some important points for your diet to reduce & stabilise your blood sugar: - reduce refined carbohydrates & other sugar containing foods, also foods containing trans & saturated fats - have more of fibre containing foods like vegetables including green leafy ones, fruits( avoid bananas, mangoes, chikoo as they have more sugars)more of citrus, apple, pear, kiwi, berries, whole grains like whole wheat, brown rice, oats, quinoa, corn - the main strategy is to combine& add a protein food in all your meals & also include as a snack( foods such as eggs, milk & milk products like yogurt, cottage cheese, butter milk, also beans, lentils, pulses, sprouts, a handful of nuts such as almonds, walnuts,pista, cashews - healthy fats as in avocado, seafood, walnuts, olive, canola, sun flower oil for cooking, various nuts - have 5-6 small meals instead of three large meals to keep your blood sugar stable - consult a dietician for diet chart as per your calorie requirement( depending on your food habits, daily activity & exercise routine).

You should take small frequent diet. Take more vegetables and salad. Avoid sugar, jaggery,honey, sweets,sweet fruits like mangoes, cheeku,banana, grapes etc. Regular excercise, walking and yoga are very useful.

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Ideally when diabetes is well controlled fasting blood glucose should be < 100 mg & PP 150 to 160 mg & HbA1c% <6.8. You have not mentioned about PP glucose level and HbA1c%. To suggest a diet plan I need to know following details: Fasting, PP glucose levels, HbA1c%, present dietary pattern extent of daily exercise, drugs being taken. Then only I will be able to give a specific dietary plan. Looking at your weight and height, your BMI is 29.07 kgs/M2, which close to being grade 1 obesity. Hence weight reduction is one of the basic requirement, so I need to know your present diet pattern. Your ideal weight has to 68 kgs. Thanks.
