Hello, Thanks for the query. Diabetes occurs mainly either due to deficiency of insulin, increased resistance to the action of insulin (IR) or both together. The precipitating causes include - over weight, obesity, inactivity, junk foods, and family history of diabetes. Vit D deficiency, tobacco usage and bipolar disorders have no direct contribution. Once diabetes develops, it has to be treated by appropriate drugs and for lifetime. There is no cure, it can only be controlled. Weight reduction and exercise do help in achieving better glucose control. Thanks.
