There are so many reasons for bad breathe or halitosis may be intraoral (xerostomia, periodontal problem) extra oral (systemic ds like diabetes, gastric prob etc) sometimes situational like after smoking, eatables like garlic, after wakeup in d mornin, so first rule out d cause ,visit dentist if possible periodontist, for temporary relief use chlohex plus mouthwash or other containing zinc chloride with chlorhexidine gluconate 2%, listerine etc and also brush your teeth twice daily with tongue cleaning.

Hello Lybrate user, betadine is an antibacterial mouthwash. Halitosis cannot be removed by rinsing with the betadine. There are numerous reason for halitosis. Most common is poor oral hygiene. In such cases we suggest our patient to undergo ultrasonic scaling and polishing of teeth surface. Any dentist can perform this procedure. After that brush twice daily and use the betadine mouthwash. Im sure halitosis will subside. Hope this helps.

Dera Lybrate user, betadine gargles are useful for dental or gum infection but routine and long term use is not advisable to get rid of halitosis/bad breath. If your bad breath is due to sinusitis or sore throat or tonsil infection, You can visit an ENT for a checkup. If your bad breath problem is very severe, a course of antibiotics to get rid of foul smell producing bacteria would be helpful.
