Lower Back Pain - Ayurvedic Remedies For It!

Low back pain is not a specific disease; rather it is a symptom that may occur from a variety of different processes. Back pain can have many reasons, but often no specific cause will be found and the pain will stop. 

According to ayurveda, this is a vata disorder. The vata dosha gets vitiated due to various reasons of faulty dietary and life style habits. This vitiated vata dosha travels throughout the body and accumulates in the area of blocked channels. In this case it finds blockage in the channels of the low back area and gets accumulated there thus causing pain. 

Causes of Low Back Pain- 

  1. Common causes involve diseases or injury to the muscles, bones or nerves of the spine. 
  2. Pain from the diseases of abdominal, pelvic and chest organs can also radiate to back. 
  3. Normal pregnancy can also cause back pain due to stretching the pelvic ligaments and straining the low back.
  4. Ankylosing Spondilitis causing stiffness and pain in the spine worsen in the morning. 
  5. In cauda equine syndrome, the spinal cord is directly compressed causing nerve compression. The patient may experience pain and loss of sensation in the area supplied by compressed nerve, bowel or bladder dysfunction. 
  6. Infections of the bones of the spine are among the uncommon causes.
  7. Nerves infection with herpes zoster virus can cause nerve inflammation in the upper or lower part of the spine causing pain. 
  8. Disc prolapse between the lower back bones causes nerve root irritation. Sciatica is a common example of nerve root irritation. In Ayurveda this disease is called Gridhrasi. This disease is caused by vitiated vata and kapha. In this case pain starts from the back and traverses throughout the leg up to the great toe. 

Symptoms of Low Back Pain 

  1. Pain in the low back area is the primary symptom. The pain may radiate downwards the front, side or back of the leg. 
  2. Pain may be worse with activity or prolonged sitting. 
  3. Numbness or weakness of the area supplied by the compressed nerve.

It is normal to lose about 30-80 strands of hair in a day. The common reasons behind hair fall are lack of essential nutrients in the body, improper and unhealthy dietary habits, hormonal imbalance, certain medications, dandruff, alopecia and other scalp disorders, stress and tension etc. Natural oils can be used to massage the scalp for countering hair fall. Gently massage the scalp prior to head bath every day till 50% reduction is observed in the hair fall later twice a week. Also check hemoglobin for anaemia and thyroid status with serum tsh. Start taking amla hair nutrition supplement. Keep stress away with regular exercise, yoga, meditation. Get the underlying scalp condition like dandruff treated. I was suffering from thyroid, my current tsh is 2.24 and I am taking thyronorm 112.5 mg every morning, during thyroid my weight was increased, I feel lethargy and some time anxiety level was there and it get ok only after eating some thing. Pimples are due to hormonal changes, pollution, excess sweating on face, application of cosmetics, wash your face 4 times daily twice with face washes and twice with plain water. Do not rub your face to dry instead dap it dry stop applying any creams on face except pimples ointment take Dr. Prescribed tablets depending on severity avoid junk foods avoid milk foods getting pimples in teenage is normal for any person but not taking treatment modifies your face with lot of problems like marks and scars to correct these problems it needs natural ayurvedic treatments and medicines.

How Ayurveda Is The Best Way To Treat Diabetes?

Living with diabetes can be tough, the manifestation of the condition can significantly disrupt the normal routine. If you are looking at treatment options for diabetes, then know that Ayurveda can be of help, not just in managing the condition but by effectively curing it.

Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder where the body is unable to make the right usage of glucose because of insufficient production of insulin resulting in a high level of sugar in the blood. According to Ayurveda, diabetes is a disease in which a large quantity of turbid urine is frequently passed and can be cured using panchakarma therapy technique.

In Ayurveda, diabetes is known as 'Madhumeha' and is classified as a 'kapha' type of disorder. Ayurveda identifies 20 types of diabetes - 4 due to Vata, 6 results from Pitta, and 10 are caused by Kapha.

Causes

Factors that are often responsible for causing diabetes are excessive intake of foods which are difficult to digest, such as fried foods, creams, etc. Lack of exercise, mental stress and strain, excessive sleep, overeating and consequent obesity, excessive intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates, overloading of proteins and fats can also lead to diabetes. Hereditary factors also play role in causing diabetes.

  1. Bitter Gourd (Momordica charantia)

The Panchakarma Therapies for Diabetes

Another most crucial step is the known as the Panchakarma, a procedure to purify the body.

1. Herbal Medicines: Ayurveda uses a number of herbal medicines like madhunashini, bilva, haridra, jambhulbeej, shilajit, kutaj, shuddha guggul, tulshi andaamlaki for effectively keeping the level of sugar in the blood under control so that it does not rise further thereby preventing diabetes from worsening.

2. Panchakarma: Panchakarma is the primary purification, and the detoxification treatment carried out by Ayurveda for the cure of diabetes. The procedures used in panchakarma are, abhyanga swedan, basti, and vierchena. The diabetic patients can be highly benefitted by relaxing effects from the abhyanga therapy. It involves massage using pre-medicated herbal oils. It also helps in the reduction of stress and muscles at the same time which results in a sense of well - being. Swedan is an herbal steam bath that opens the pores for flushing out the toxins and cleansing the body through the excreted sweat by the skin.

Basti involves the cleansing of the body through the rectum by the introduction of certain medicinal oils through the anal region under the supervision of an expert. Vierchena is a specially medicated purification therapy which helps in the removal of the toxins from the body of the affected individual that are accumulated in the gallbladder and the liver.

Thus, panchakarma is extremely useful in the maintenance of the proper level of sugar in the blood and at the same time play a crucial role in the prevention of further complications of the disease.

Ayurvedic Tips for Diabetes Cure

  1. The bitter gourd is regarded as the best remedy for diabetes. Drinking at least one tablespoon of bitter gourd juice daily will reduce blood sugar levels in your blood and urine.
  2. Having bitter gourd cooked in ghee for a period of three months will bring the diabetes down by a significant amount.
  3. A tablespoon of Indian gooseberry juice mixed with a cup of fresh bitter-gourd juice, taken daily for two months will enable the pancreas to secrete insulin.
  4. Drinking a glass of water with 10 tulsi leaves, 10 neem leaves and 10 belpatras early morning on an empty stomach helps in keeping sugar levels under control.
  5. Mix and grind seeds of Fenugreek (100 gm), turmeric (50gm), white pepper. Take one teaspoon of this powder with a glass of milk twice daily.
  6. Put one cup of water into a copper vessel at night, and drink the water in the morning.

Diabetes Lifestyle

  1. Avoid sleeping during daytime
  2. Avoid smoking
  3. Take adequate eye care
  4. Do exercise regularly
  5. Take extra care of your foot

In Ayurveda, the body is made up of three doshas - kapha, vata, pitta and gunas - rajas, tamas and satva. The various techniques that Ayurveda recommends to improve your wellbeing are -

  • Meditate regularly
  • Exercise on a regular basis
  • Eat the largest meal during lunch
  • Limit portion sizes
  • Weed out negative emotions
  • Limit foods that are high in sugar
  • Be careful about when and how many carbohydrates you eat

It's good to reduce weight at right time as many problems are directly related to overweight. Management: 1.Take 1 glass of Luke warm water with Triphala Ras30 ml in the morning daily. 2.Drink at least 2 litters per day. Lukewarm water is best for drinking. 3.Avoid cold drinks and alcoholic drink like beer as they contain more calories. 4.Don't skip meals. Avoid heavy meals. Take light meals. 5.Must have 3 main meals per day – In between main meals take fruits & green salads. 6.Eat seasonal fruits & Fresh vegetables. Fruits and vegetables contain fibres to help you feel full quickly. 7.Avoid sweets, oily, spicy, junk food, chocolates. 8.Eat more whole grains and cut carbohydrates. Choose proteins instead of fatty ones. 9.Cut salt from your diet. 10. Eat home foods. Going out to eat makes it too easy to cheat. Food sold at restaurants is commonly much higher in fat, sodium, and other weight-loss killers. 11. Avoid sedentary and lazy lifestyle. 12. Take small frequent breaks for a quick walk in between as sitting for long hours together encourages the accumulation of fat in the body. 13. Do regular exercises daily. Exercise decreases the stress hormone in your body, burns calories and also increases the blood circulation. Brisk walking for 15-30 minutes daily is good. Jogging, running, swimming & cycling are good options Consult me for any assistance.
