My wife is 69 year old .she has hypothyroidism without any symptoms since 2014. Her tsh levels are as under 1/12/18 5.00 15/4/19 1.8 15/9/19 1.6 18/12/19 2.2 she is taking 50 mcg thyronorm since dec 2018. Her tsh levels have comedown since then drastically to 2.2.she has type ii diabetes since 2005 but well under control. Her hb a1c is 5.7.fasting 98 and pp 120. Is she to change the dosage from 50 mcg to 25 mcg or avoid taking on sat and sun every week? Kindly advise.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details. It is good to know that her diabetes and hypothyroidism are very well controlled. In fact at 69 years, TSH level around 5 to 6 mU/L is considered as quite normal. Bringing it lower (as it is with her) is really not advised as it can increase the risk of heart rate increase or rise in BP. So let her reduce the dosage to 25 mcg per day.
