You need not avoid anything except restrict the salt intake. Avoid packaged and processed food which may contain excess salt and other ingredients which can be harmful in the long run. Kindly read about hypertension and it's management from the internet to know more about it and adapt healthy habits. Through daily exercise and following a healthy and natural diet, you can improve the situation and maybe require minimum medications if you are consistent with good habits. Learn yoga /pranayam and meditation which can bring natural harmony and also help relaxation of the mind and body. Go for a follow up with your doctor so that your health can be assessed regularly and proper treatment can be given based on the facts (physical examination and some tests are done to assess internal health ).

Telma can raise potassium, and H (another BP medicine) can reduce it. Since you are taking this combination, your potassium should remain normal. You can check your sodium and potassium after about 2 months and then every 6 months to be sure. Don't be scared of eating. Just reduce sugar and jaggery in diet, balanced diet is healthier than restricted modern diet. The best protection for kidneys is well controlled BP, you can use any of the common BP drugs, but make sure it remains controlled. Best wishes.
