Vegetarian foods are poor sources of vitamin b12 .Milk is the best vegetarian source. Few varieties of mushrooms do contain this vitamin. And recently some food products are being fortified with this vitamin like Kellogg's corn flakes. Egg is an excellent source if you can take it. Vitamin b12 deficiency can cause anaemia, nerve problems like peripheral neuropathy and sub acute combined degeneration of spinal cord which is a serious problem.
