Night blindness is a hereditary vision disorder from birth which causes progressively worsening vision during the night. It can also be caused by deficiency of vitamin A. In this disorder, the affected person can usually see clearly during the day without any obstruction but their vision is impaired in the absence of bright light. This happens due to degeneration of the rods in the eyes, which facilitate vision in low light. In severe cases, it might lead to complete and permanent blindness and it is mostly incurable.
