When a person's body becomes inefficient in recycling the vitamin biotin, he/she is said to suffer from a condition known as Biotinidase Deficiency. It is a congenital disorder where biotin is not released from the proteins found in the diet. Seizures, muscle weakness, impaired hearing, skin rashes and hypotonia are the common symptoms of this condition. It can be diagnosed by genetic testing. Regular treatment must be taken in order to cure it.
HOW IS BIOTINIDASE DEFICIENCY DIAGNOSED?
If a person suffering from this condition doesn't get treatment, it can result in him/her going into coma and may eventually cause death.
