Please suggest me. If a person has Thyroid will it affect pregnancy of women or not

Lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Madam please understand "thyroid" is the gland present in all of us, it produces a hormone called thyroxine. This is required for multiple metabolic functions in our body. Some times there may be less production of that hormone - Hypothyroidism (commonly seen) or some times there may be excess production known as hyperthyroidism. Both these conditions can affect ovulation, menstrual periods and hence pregnancy. In case of hypothyroidism if pregnancy does occur, baby's brin growth is affected, if the deficiency is present in early pregnancy. Later it affects the fetal growth and outcome of pregnancy. Thanks.
