Hello, Thanks for your query. For a person with diabetes it is always necessary to take a balanced diet, that provides exact calories based on Ideal Body Weight (IBW), extent of daily exercise and level of blood glucose control. It is essential to maintain fasting glucose nearer 100 mg, PP 160 to 170 mg & HbA1c%<6.8, to be in very good control. Therefore, following precautions should be taken: Avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, bakery items, foods made of maida, sweetened aerated drinks, fructose corn syrup containing foods. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and fruits. Refrain from smoking and alcohol. But most important if one wants to control blood glucose effectively, then daily exercise for atleast 45 minute to 1 hour on at least 5 days a week is must. Thanks.
