Hello doctor, I am a thyroid patients from since 5 years. Two days ago I have done my tsh check and value was 5.68.earlier value was 3.2. Medicine taking thyronorm 50 mcg daily morning empty stomach. Yesterday lipid profile test also done. Lipid profile test is normal. Can I go ahead with the same medicine (thyronorm 50 mcg) or have to change, kindly advise. Thanks.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. In a person taking adequate dosage of levothyroxine TSH is usually maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L, at which all the symptoms are in check. In your case the TSH level is high. However, there is no mention of T3 & T4 levels. That information is also required to give a correct advise. Plus whether you have any symptoms related to that condition, that also needs to be known. Looking at your height and weight, it is clear that with a BMI(Body Mass Index) of 27.27 kgs/Sq meter(Normal < 23kgs/Sq meter) you are clearly over weight. Have an excess of almost 11 kgs.
